ABC Cancels Big Sky After Three Seasons

Big Sky has reached the end of the line. ABC has canceled the semi-anthological crime drama after three seasons. The series centered on two private detectives who investigate crimes in Montana, with each season centering on a new season-long case. After a solid start in 2020, the series has dropped to become one of ABC's weakest shows, this year rating as their third-lowest-rated drama with only a 0.25 season average. The show was created by David E. Kelley, better known for shows such as The Practice and Ally McBeal, but coming from a high-profile creator was not enough to secure a fourth season of the show. ABC is heading back to Big Sky Country, as they have renewed Western crime drama Big Sky for a third season. The series, created by David E. Kelley and based on the CJ Box book series The Highway, is one of the lowest-rated shows on ABC with a 0.30 average. However, the show reportedly remains a strong performer in delayed Multiplatform viewing, a metric that has become all the more valuable in an era in which less and less viewers are watching shows during the live-plus-same-day timespan. Big Sky Renewed for Season Two

ABC is extending their stay in the Big Sky state. Freshman crime thriller Big Sky has scored a second season on the Alphabet Network. The show drew strong ratings for ABC for the first half of its season, but cooled down in the second half and hit multiple new lows. Its 0.58 average, however, still put it in the top half of ABC's scripted series, and made it the #2 10 PM drama on the network. David E. Kelley, creator of Ally McBeal, Picket Fences and Big Little Lies (among many others), created the series, which stars Katheryn Winnick, Kylie Bunbury, Dedee Pfeiffer and Brian Geraghty.
