PREVIOUSLY ON NETWORK…

INT. BUSINESS HALLWAY - DAY

Ash and Will walk side by side.

Ash points at each door.

ASH

This is the conference room, where we usually hold meetings on important network matters. And this is the break room...we chill and do things.

Will nods accordingly.

Suddenly, Holly shows up in the hallway.

HOLLY

I didn’t realize it was a tour today.

ASH

Yeah, impromptu.

Holly turns towards Will.

HOLLY

So you’re the new guy in town, right?

WILL

You got that correct.

HOLLY

I’m Holly. I run security at this place.

WILL

Security, huh?

ASH

For protective reasons.

WILL

I see.

ASH

Well, look at the time. Looks like we have a meeting in ten minutes.

Will sees Jesse, Charlie, and Matt gather outside the conference room.

BACK TO PRESENT EPISODE.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

The gang is all gathered together.

Charlie keeps her distance from Nellie by sitting across, but next to Jesse.

Ash stands in attention.

Will enters the room.

ASH

Hey guys. I’m sure you have met the newest members of the team.

JESSE

Nellie, I’ve met. Wait, aren’t you a writer on a sitcom?

WILL

I was.

Nellie sighs.

Charlie twiddles her thumbs.

Matt shrugs his shoulders while sitting a seat away from Nellie.

MATT

Well, that was interesting.

CHARLIE

Can’t believe Kasey and Leah are gone, but we have to make do with what we have.

The meeting then begins with a bang.

ASH

I’m kinda impressed with the recent pilot crop if I do say so myself. But we have tough decisions to make.

CHARLIE

Has anyone seen the results for both Put Me In and Bar Exam? I’m really impressed with these two pilots.

JESSE

I saw.

WILL

That’s what makes it hard.

ASH

With the introduction of Writer’s Block into the lineup, either one of them could work for the upcoming season.

CHARLIE

We already have The Bullpen, Marietta, Whoa Folks, I Have Another Dream, and Yarborough on the lineup.

ASH

We’ll add more. We’re in pretty good shape ratings-wise so far this season.

Suddenly, Nellie raises her eyebrows.

Charlie looks at Nellie in confusion.

NELLIE

Do you mean to tell me that certain shows such as The Bullpen, as low rated as is, get a spinoff?

CHARLIE

Except it makes money and is produced in-house.

On the next episode of Network, we have part 2 of the meeting and a clash.

PREVIOUSLY ON NETWORK…

Nellie and Charlie were in the middle of a somewhat awkward exchange when Nellie turns to Charlie.

NELLIE (CONT'D)

Oh, Charlotte, if you ever need assistance, you know where to find me.

CHARLIE

Okay, I guess.

Charlie shrugs as Nellie exits the scene.

She then turns to Ash with a disapproving glare.

CHARLIE (CONT’D)

Why the hell did you hire her?

ASH

We needed a new consultant. She was overqualified.

CHARLIE

But she hated my guts.

ASH

At least keep an open mind.

BACK TO PRESENT EPISODE.

INT. PRESIDENT’S OFFICE - 2 HOURS LATER

Ash sits in his office chair.

He sighs as he looks at the computer.

ASH

Oh, what a day.

After he shrugs his shoulders, he hears a knock on the door.

The door opens to reveal WILL (28) standing with a nervous glare.

WILL

Hello, am I in the right place?

ASH

Of course. Come on in.

Will then takes a few steps and closes the door.

He sits in front of the desk.

ASH

Well, welcome to the team, Will. With your expertise, you will fit in quite nicely with the bunch.

WILL

I bet.

ASH

Now, why don’t I show you around?

The two of them get up from their places.

They exit the scene.

INT. BREAK ROOM - DAY

PREVIOUSLY ON NETWORK...

Suddenly, a woman named NELLIE (34) enters the break room.

She turns towards Charlie.

Charlie freezes.

NELLIE

Hello there. I’m sure we’ve met before.

CHARLIE

What do you mean?

NELLIE

I’m Nellie, the newest network consultant.

Charlie turns towards Jesse.

BACK TO PRESENT EPISODE.

We turn back to Nellie, who crosses her arms.

Charlie sighs.

NELLIE

As you may know, I used to work in your line of work.

CHARLIE

A gossip columnist.

Nellie nods.

Charlie then begins to pace back and forth.

She stops to turn to Nellie with a disapproving glare.

CHARLIE

Question is: how in the world do you know my former line of work?

NELLIE

We were in rival publications.

Jesse nods.

JESSE

Well, welcome to the team.

NELLIE

Pleasure to be here.

Nellie then attempts to exit towards the door.

She then turns to Charlie.

NELLIE (CONT'D)
