Wednesday TV Ratings 12/8/21: Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Toy Story That Time Forgot Decent for ABC, Steady Survivor Leads, Alter Ego Hits New Low for Finale, CSI: Vegas and Tough As Nails End Steady (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC brought back Disney-based Christmas specials 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' (0.46) and 'Toy Story That Time Forgot' (0.39) for their annual broadcasts. On a year-to-year basis, 'Olaf' was essentially on-par with its 2020 showing (0.5) while 'Toy Story' was a tenth lower than its previous outing (0.5). Reruns of 'The Conners' (0.28), 'Home Economics' (0.21), and 'The Chase' (0.17) filled out the remainder of the evening. Over on CBS, 'Survivor' (0.91, +0.04) rose by four-hundredths and guarded its position as the highest-rated program of the night. At 9, 'Tough As Nails' (0.38) held even for its finale, but 'CSI: Vegas' (0.37, -0.02) lost two-hundredths for its season closer. Fox's 'Alter Ego' (0.33, -0.04) dropped to a new low for its finale, even though 'The Masked Singer' (0.85) was steady in the 8pm hour. On NBC, 'Chicago Med' (0.70, -0.01) fell by a hundredth, but 'Chicago Fire' (0.74, +0.04) and 'Chicago PD' (0.70, +0.05) made some visible gains at 9 and 10 respectively. The CW's 'Christmas Around the World' special (0.07) performed about the same as the majority of the network's original programming.

Wednesday TV Ratings 11/17/21: The Masked Singer Surpasses Survivor, The Goldbergs Slips After Week Off (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Fox's 'The Masked Singer' (1.00, +0.11) gained a tenth, cleared the 1.0 threshold for the first time since September, and topped the evening altogether. Though it did not grow as much, its 'Alter Ego' lead-out (0.39, +0.01) picked up a hundredth in the 9pm slot. On CBS, 'Survivor' (0.94, -0.01) shed a single hundredth while 'CSI: Vegas' (0.43, +0.07) rose by seven-hundredths at 10. Sandwiched in-between, 'Tough as Nails' (0.39) held completely steady. In ABC news, 'The Goldbergs' (0.57, -0.02) and 'Wonder Years' (0.40, -0.01) experienced some minor declines. In the back-half of the evening, 'The Conners' (0.52, +0.02), 'Home Economics' (0.36, +0.06), and 'A Million Little Things' (0.30, +0.05) were all on the rise. The NBC network offered up encores of 'Chicago Med' (0.46), 'Chicago Fire' (0.51), and 'Chicago PD' (0.43). The CW's 'Legends of Tomorrow' (0.08, -0.01) ticked down but 'Batwoman' (0.08) was flat with its previous outing.

Wednesday TV Ratings 11/10/21: CMA Awards Lead the Night and Hold Steady with 2020, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD Slip, The Masked Singer Steady (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: After taking a noticeable hit in 2020, the '55th Annual CMA Awards' (1.12) was completely steady with the 54th ceremony (1.1) and led ABC to a rare Wednesday-night win. CBS's 'Survivor' (0.95, -0.02) shed two-hundredths and settled for second place but struggling lead-out programs 'Tough As Nails' (0.39, +0.02) and 'CSI: Vegas' (0.36, +0.03) were actually on the rise. On Fox, 'The Masked Singer' (0.89, -0.03) ticked down to a new series low as 'Alter Ego' (0.38, +0.01) got back a hundredth. 'Chicago Med' (0.71, -0.01), 'Chicago Fire' (0.70, -0.08), and 'Chicago PD' (0.65, -0.04) were all down by varying degrees on NBC. The CW's 'Legends of Tomorrow' (0.09, +0.01) gained a hundredth while 'Batwoman' (0.08, -0.01) lost one.

Wednesday TV Ratings 10/20/21: Survivor Rises and Leads the Night, Chicago Fire Steady for 200th Episode, The Goldbergs and The Wonder Years Slip (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: After rebounding a bit last week, ABC's 'The Wonder Years' (0.39, -0.15) suffered its steepest decline yet, falling by nearly 30% in the Adults 18-49 demographic. Its 'Goldbergs' lead-in (0.54) was only down by five-hundredths in comparison, meaning that it cannot be blamed for this sudden 'Wonder Years' collapse. With 'Conners' (0.30) in repeat-mode at 9pm, 'Home Economics' (0.29, -0.09) also crashed to a new low. A Robin Williams-based 'Superstar' (0.28) was even with its last installment from early September. CBS's 'Survivor' (1.01) rose by a tenth and eclipsed 'Masked Singer' by a healthy margin, making it the night's top performer. The news was not so bright from there as 'Tough As Nails' (0.41) dropped by two-hundredths and 'CSI: Vegas' (0.35) gave back seven-hundredths. 'Chicago Med' (0.73, -0.06), 'Chicago Fire' (0.81, -0.02), and 'Chicago PD' (0.69, -0.04) all experienced some minor declines on NBC. 'The Masked Singer' (0.95) lost four-hundredths on Fox while 'Alter Ego' (0.37, -0.08) plunged to a new series low. Wednesday TV Ratings 10/13/21: The Masked Singer Leads the Night as Survivor Hits New Low, The Conners and A Million Little Things Rise, CSI: Vegas Dips (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Fox's 'The Masked Singer' (0.99) took back the top spot after losing it to CBS's 'Survivor' last week, rising a full tenth from its previous installment. 'Alter Ego' (0.45) gained three-hundredths at 9 but continued to retain less than half of its lead-in. 'Survivor' (0.92, -0.02) itself fell for the fourth week in a row, cementing yet another new low in the process. At 9, 'Tough As Nails' (0.43) lost seven-hundredths while 'CSI: Vegas' (0.42) dropped by four-hundredths from a premiere that was already considered disappointing. ABC was on the rise all-around, with 'The Conners' (0.61, +0.09) posting the largest week-to-week gain for its wedding episode. Newcomer 'The Wonder Years' (0.54) rose for the first time in its run, up by seven-hundredths overall. 'The Goldbergs' (0.59, +0.01), 'Home Economics' (0.38, +0.03), and 'A Million Little Things' (0.28, +0.05) all ticked up as well. On NBC, 'Chicago Med' (0.79, -0.04) and 'Chicago PD' (0.73, -0.02) lost some steam but 'Chicago Fire' (0.83, +0.03) was on the upswing in-between. 'Legends of Tomorrow' (0.09) and 'Batwoman' (0.08) debuted at atypical levels on the CW.
