Season 1, Episode 4: "Leak Culture"
INT. SOUNDSTAGE 7 - MORNING
Harry walks onto set holding his phone.
Concerned.
Maya sees him immediately.
MAYA: Oh, you saw it.
HARRY: Saw what?
Maya stops.
MAYA: …Then why do you look like that?
HARRY: My landlord raised my rent again.
MAYA Oh. No, this is worse.
She shows him her phone.
A blurry behind-the-scenes photo from set.
Tegan in costume. Aaron in the background. The Red Veil mask partially visible.
Caption:
“FIRST LOOK AT THE RED VEIL REBOOT”
Harry squints.
HARRY: That was taken through a fence.
MAYA: People are enhancing it.
HARRY: Enhancing?
MAYA: Yeah. Like crime shows.
Harry scrolls.
Posts everywhere.
“THE MASK LOOKS CHEAP.” “WHY IS THE LIGHTING BLUE.” “THIS FRANCHISE IS DEAD.”
Harry keeps scrolling.
MAYA: You should stop reading those.
Harry keeps scrolling.
MAYA: Okay.
She walks away.
Harry keeps reading.
HARRY: Why are they mad about trees?

INT. TALKING HEAD ROOM - MORNING - KARA
KARA: Modern fandom isn’t really about movies anymore. It’s about announcing your opinion before the movie exists. Then getting angry when the movie doesn’t match the version you invented in your head.
INT. PRODUCTION OFFICE - MORNING
Emergency meeting.
Harry, Kara, Maxwell, Zoey.
A giant monitor displays social media posts.
Kara clicks through them rapidly.
KARA: Current concerns include:
- the mask,
- the lighting,
- Tegan’s haircut,
- the possibility we’re “disrespecting the lore,”
- and apparently the trees.
Harry points.
HARRY: Yeah, why are people mad about trees?
Kara zooms in on a tweet.
“The original trilogy used pine trees. These are clearly
cedar.”
Silence.
HARRY: That can’t be real.
KARA: Twenty-three thousand likes.
Zoey rubs her face.
ZOEY: I hate the internet.
Maxwell stays calm.
MAXWELL: This is engagement.
HARRY: They’re saying the movie looks terrible.
MAXWELL: Yes. Engaged people say things.
Kara clicks again.
A fan account is analyzing blurry set photos with circles
and arrows.
HARRY: How do they even have this much?
KARA: Drone.
Harry blinks.
HARRY: There’s drones?
KARA: Welcome to modern Hollywood.
INT. SOUNDSTAGE - LATER
Harry walks through set distracted, still checking his
phone.
Zoey notices immediately.
ZOEY: Oh no.
HARRY: What?
ZOEY: You’re reading comments.
HARRY: I’m not reading comments.
ZOEY: You are.
Harry locks his phone.
HARRY: I just think it’s weird people already decided the movie sucks.
ZOEY: That happened six minutes after they announced it.
Harry sighs.
HARRY: I shouldn’t care.
ZOEY: Nope.
HARRY: I do though.
ZOEY: Yeah.
A crew member passes them carrying fake intestines in a
plastic bin.
Harry absentmindedly grabs one thinking it’s a cable.
Realizes.
Drops it immediately.
Zoey watches.
ZOEY: See? This is why you can’t read comments at work.
INT. CAST HOLDING - LATER
Nick films a livestream.
NICK: Guys, I can’t show set stuff obviously, but let’s just say… things are looking insane today.
Behind him, Clay accidentally walks through frame wearing
half his monster makeup.
Nick freezes.
NICK: Oh no.
He ends livestream immediately.
INT. MAKEUP TRAILER - AFTERNOON
Tegan sits while makeup artists work.
She’s upset but trying not to show it.
Harry enters.
HARRY: Hey.
She forces a smile.
TEGAN: Hey.
Harry notices her phone screen.
People online criticizing her appearance.
HARRY: You reading that stuff?
TEGAN: I made the mistake of searching my name.
Harry nods sympathetically.
HARRY: Never do that.
TEGAN: Somebody said I look “too clean to survive horror.”
HARRY: What does that even mean?
TEGAN: I don’t know. Another person said I look like I’d ask to speak to the ghost’s manager.
Harry laughs accidentally.
Tegan laughs too despite herself.
TEGAN: Okay that one was kinda funny.
Harry sits nearby.
HARRY: Look, these people haven’t even seen the movie.
TEGAN: Yeah, but they already decided who I am.
HARRY: For what it’s worth, I think you’re doing great.
Tegan smiles slightly.
TEGAN: You legally kinda have to say that.
HARRY: No, actually. Maxwell gave me a form this morning. I can criticize two actors a week.
That gets a real laugh.
INT. SOUNDSTAGE - LATER
Aaron approaches Harry carrying his phone.
Concerned.
AARON: Hey. Weird question.
Harry braces.
HARRY: Okay.
AARON: Do I look old?
Harry blinks.
HARRY: What?
Aaron shows him tweets comparing current Aaron to his
teen-drama years.
AARON: People are saying I aged badly.
Harry studies him.
HARRY: You look normal.
AARON: That’s not what normal means online. One person said I have “divorced energy” now.
Harry tries not to laugh.
Fails slightly.
Aaron notices.
AARON: See? It’s spreading.
INT. PRODUCTION OFFICE - AFTERNOON
Kara storms in holding her phone.
KARA: Okay. New issue.
Nobody even reacts anymore.
KARA: Somebody leaked a fake plot synopsis and fans think it’s real.
HARRY: What’s the fake plot?
Kara reads:
KARA: “The Red Veil is now an AI-generated demon created by social media grief.”
Silence.
KARA: …That’s kinda good.
MAXWELL: Write that down.
Zoey points immediately.
ZOEY: No.
INT. SOUNDSTAGE - EVENING
Harry prepares a simple emotional scene with Tegan.
But crew energy is off.
Everybody’s distracted by online backlash.
Harry notices it.
He gathers everyone.
HARRY: Okay. Phones away for one hour.
Nobody moves.
HARRY: Seriously.
Slowly, people put phones down.
Nick reluctantly powers off livestream equipment.
Aaron sighs dramatically while locking his phone.
Zoey watches Harry carefully.
This is leadership now.
Not panic.
HARRY: None of those people have seen what we’re making.
Beat.
HARRY: And honestly? Some of them already decided to hate it before we even got hired.
Crew listens.
HARRY: So let’s just make something good.
Quiet.
Simple.
That actually works better than a big speech.
Even Zoey seems impressed.
INT. MAIN SET - LATER
The scene shoots.
Tegan nails it.
Simple. Grounded. Sad.
Harry watches monitor.
Good scene.
Real scene.
Then suddenly...
A DRONE flies past the mansion windows outside.
Everyone stops.
Silence.
The drone hovers there.
Watching them.
Harry stares at it in disbelief.
HARRY: Are you kidding me?
The drone slowly backs away.
Then crashes directly into a fake tombstone.
Massive crash.
Long silence.
Then from somewhere:
CLAY (O.S.): I think we killed somebody’s internet.
INT. PARKING LOT - NIGHT
Harry and Zoey walk to their cars.
Both exhausted.
Harry checks his phone one last time.
Stops walking.
Zoey notices.
ZOEY: What now?
Harry turns phone toward her.
A fan account posted a blurry clip from today’s scene.
Comments underneath:
“Okay wait… this actually looks kinda good.”
Zoey stares at it.
Beat.
ZOEY: Don’t get excited.
HARRY: I’m not.
Beat.
HARRY: I got a little excited.
Zoey shakes her head.
But she’s smiling slightly too.
CUT TO BLACK.
