Ratings Analysis: Though his rival President Trump bills him as "Sleepy Joe", President Biden's State of the Union address clearly woke up primetime television on Tuesday evening. ABC's coverage (1.09) broke the elusive 1.0 threshold and maintained a comfortable lead over NBC's telecast (0.91). CBS (0.61) settled for a distant third while Fox (0.39) was dead-last. This hierarchy remained intact for coverage of the Kim Reynolds 'Republican Response', with ABC (0.58) besting NBC (0.48) and CBS (0.39). Airing right before NBC's broadcast of the speech, sitcoms 'American Auto' (0.32, -0.06) and 'Grand Crew' (0.25, -0.05) declined by six-hundredths and five-hundredths respectively. 'Grand Crew' found itself with a new series low while 'Auto' went below all other 2022 telecasts. ABC's rerun of 'Judge Steve Harvey' (0.41) was able to top the 8PM hour, with CBS's 'FBI' encore (0.40) nipping at its heels. Fox's repeat of 'The Resident' (0.20) only managed to outdo The CW's original installments of 'Superman & Lois' (0.15, -0.01) and 'Naomi' (0.10, +0.01). 'Superman' was down by a hundredth while 'Naomi' picked one up.
Finals Update: 'Superman & Lois' (+0.1) and the '2022 State of the Union' on ABC (+0.3), NBC (+0.2), CBS (+0.1), and Fox (+0.1) adjusted up.
