Young Rock: NBC comedy has been in a rough place for a long time, but they may have finally found a new comedy that can deliver for them. Young Rock premiered this Tuesday to a phenomenal 1.0, almost double what Mr. Mayor is averaging thus far and over double Superstore's average. Some big-name movie stars have starred in broadcast series over the years, but those projects don't always work out. The Rock's starring role on the small-screen, however, seems to have been a huge draw. That 1.0 will likely fade, but for now, it's the #1 comedy on television aside from the NFL-boosted Great North. With 0.5 being considered solid for NBC comedies these days, I see no way that Young Rock will ever dip to a rating this season that will endanger its future, especially when NBCUniversal has a great relationship with Dwayne Johnson. It's a CERTAIN RENEWAL.

Kenan: It didn't get as much attention on Tuesday, but NBC's new SNL-heavy sitcom Kenan also had a terrific debut on Tuesday. One of SNL's most beloved cast members, Kenan Thompson, made his return to sitcoms in a series produced by Lorne Michaels. Its 0.8 wasn't as strong as the 1.0 for lead-in Young Rock or the 1.1 for lead-out This Is Us, but it's still enough to make it one of the top comedies of the week. I need more data before being certain of a renewal for this one, as it has less room to drop than Young Rock does, but it's definitely a LIKELY RENEWAL for the time being.
