Preliminary Analysis: Continuing its tradition of premiering at or near its season low every year, ABC's 'The Good Doctor' (0.6) returned to the scene in legitimately concerning fashion. This result went a tenth below its season three low (0.7) and nearly 50% behind its stellar March 2020 finale (1.1). The long hiatus may have put a dent in 'Doctor' but it still looks fairly decent when compared to where broadcast television is as a whole. Lead-in 'Dancing with the Stars' (0.8) managed to hold steady when compared to last week. 'The Voice' (1.0) was also even on NBC, beating out every other program of the evening. The reality juggernaut lead into an election themed 'SNL' special (0.6) that tied what 'Weakest Link' did in the slot a week prior. CBS had a solid edition of 'The Price is Right' (0.6) leading into anemic 'All Rise' (0.2) and 'Bull' (0.2) encores. 'LA's Finest' (0.3) and 'Filthy Rich' (0.2) both lost a tenth, with 'Filthy' dropping down to a new series low. Ratings are ultimately irrelevant for this Fox drama duo as both have already been canceled. The CW had repeats of 'Whose Line' (0.2/0.2) and 'Penn & Teller' (0.2).
Finals Update: NBC's 'The Voice' (1.1, +0.1), Fox's 'Filthy Rich' (0.3, +0.1), and ABC's season premiere of 'The Good Doctor' (0.7, +0.1) all adjusted up. A repeat of 'Penn & Teller' (0.1, -0.1) adjusted down on the CW. Both 'The Good Doctor' and 'Filthy Rich' have now avoided hitting new lows, instead tying their previous ones.
