CW Renew/Cancel: Dynasty Will Get a Season 4, Ratings Are Irrelevant

Welcome to CW Renew/Cancel, and I have preseason predictions. Now, CW predictions are coming in October, so these preseason predictions will not be the same as the actual predictions will be. As you may know, the CW Netflix deal has lapsed, meaning that new shows going forward will either be on HBO Max (Warner Bros. produced shows) or CBS All-Access (CBS produced shows). The deal expiring does not affect current CW shows. They will remain on Netflix. These predictions are going to be based on what current public information is out there. Here they are.

Now the first question I am going to get is why is Dynasty certain to be renewed when its ratings are in the cellar? Dynasty is CBS produced, will be in season 3, and has a lucrative international deal with Netflix. On the CW, three seasons essentially guarantees a fourth season. Therefore, ratings are irrelevant.

The same goes for every existing show on the network that is in season 2 and up. Legacies and Charmed did fine last year considering the circumstances, but the most vulnerable this season will be All American and the two new fall shows on the lineup. They are at "leans renewal", but for All American it has a lot to do with ratings and for the two new shows, it has to do with not only with ratings, but also how they do on the CW app and website and subsequently, HBO Max and CBS All-Access respectably.

Midseason shows DC's Legends of Tomorrow, In the Dark, Katy Keene, and Roswell, New Mexico are noted in the table as such and will not be receiving predictions until after they premiere.

As the forecast looks right now, I expect that there will be very few cancelations, if hardly any. In fact, if any existing show is getting the ax, they will be given the final season treatment the next season, as we are seeing with Arrow, Supernatural, and The 100 this upcoming season. Other than that, the CW will still be tough to predict with full certainty.

What do you think about the preseason predictions? As always, let us know in the comments below!
