Fresh Off the Boat just can't catch a break when it comes to its time slot, although today we found out for sure that it's not lead-in dependent. That would give much hope for it to anchor an hour, but the problem there is that its ratings (1.8) are still just OK. That was still enough to make it the top program on ABC for the night, as The Muppets (1.6) took a 20% drop from last week's 2.0. Comparatively, Dr Ken on Friday with very little promotion was just a tenth of a ratings point away from that. At 9pm, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D dropped two tenths from its Season 3 premiere, which resulted in a third place finish in the hour, narrowly losing to NCIS: NO (1.7). Following NO was Limitless (1.7) which experienced its first drop of the season.

With The Voice as a clip show, NCIS (2.1) managed to win its hour, although for the night they tied despite the former having half the total viewers as the latter. Also as a result of the clip show, Best Time Ever (1.3) completely plummeted from last week's 2.0. As usual, half-hour drops (1.5/1.2) were noticeable and not a good sign for its move to 8pm.

Over on FOX, numbers were dreadful. Ratings for Grandfathered (1.1), The Grinder (1.0), and Scream Queens (1.1) all prove that something needs to be done about this night. All are subject to go fractional next week at this pace, as viewers seem to be rejecting all three shows.

The CW finally got some action with the premieres of The Flash and iZombie starting the regular season for them. The Flash (1.4) was down half a ratings point from its massive-for-CW premiere, and down one tenth from its season finale. iZombie (0.8) rose from its end-of-Season 1 numbers, perhaps as a result of The Flash not being a rerun.
