Ratings Analysis: All eyes were on the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat as they faced off in game one of the 2023 NBA finals. ABC's broadcast of the game posted a strong 3.54 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic and 11.04 million in total viewers. Compared to the first game of 2022 (3.63), this was just 2% lower in the ratings and 3% lower in total viewers (11.40). Earlier in the evening, 'NBA Countdown' (0.91) easily topped its 8 p.m. competitors. On NBC, 'The Blacklist' (0.24, +0.05) made the move to Thursday nights and tied its season high in the process. However, most of that growth disappeared for its second episode that aired at 9 (0.20, -0.04). A rerun of 'Magnum PI' (0.16) dropped by four-hundredths of a point from there in the 10 p.m. hour. CBS's reruns of 'Young Sheldon' (0.32), 'Ghosts' (0.27), 'So Help Me Todd' (0.19), and 'CSI: Vegas' (0.19) were unsurprisingly stronger than Fox's encores of 'Alert' (0.15) and 'Animal Control' (0.13/0.14). The CW aired repeats of 'Walker' (0.04) and '100 Days To Indy' (0.03).
