After taking the week off last week, ABC renew/cancel is back this week, covering the last two weeks of television, because very little aired on ABC this last week, only five scripted shows (Last Man Standing, Dr. Ken, Conviction, The Middle, American Housewife).

*Trimmed to 10 episodes October 25, predicted certain to be canceled since September 23
**Announced it wouldn't receive additional episodes November 8, predicted certain to be canceled since October 7

The Middle: Though it faced a bigger year-to-year drop this season, The Middle still is staying strong, anchoring Tuesday nights, outperforming Fresh Off the Boat and The Real O'Neals, and only rating slightly lower than Black-ish, which gets Modern Family as a lead-in. Also, having a small main cast (five people) probably helps keep the costs down. The Middle is still certain to be renewed.

American Housewife: For the first time, American Housewife rated lower than The Middle on Tuesday. However, its 1.5, which tied its series low, isn't bad, and the lower number was likely the result of airing as part of a one-hour comedy block instead of two-hour as usual. So, have no fear, American Housewife will still return.
