TV Ratings 5/21/17: Making History Series Finale Steady, Billboard Awards Down a Lot (UPDATED)

It was a rough night for broadcast. The Billboard Music Awards were the biggest show of the night, but they were down about 20% from last year, with a 2.3 in prelims. It's lead-in, America's Funniest Home Videos, was up a bit from its last performance, but was likely very inflated by the BBMAs. NBC had special episodes of Dateline NBC, which performed pretty well, as well as two episodes of Shades of Blue, which, well, did not perform well. Fox's programs returned from break for their finales, and Bob's Burgers, Family Guy and The Simpsons were all down. Making History stayed steady.

Finals Update: The Billboard Music Awards (+0.3), Bob's Burgers (+0.1), and the 9:30 episode of Family Guy (+0.1) adjusted up. America's Funniest Home Videos (-0.3) adjusted down.

TV Ratings 5/7/17: Once Down for Musical Episode, Last Man Ends Down, Lady Di Special Solid for ABC

Sunday night was a rather odd night for broadcast. Some shows were down a lot, some shows were up a lot, and a Princess Diana special absolutely crushed American Crime's ratings. Speaking of that Diana special, it pulled a very respectable 0.9, up from both Match Game's 0.8 and American Crime's 0.4. Even more impressive is that it pulled these ratings with a weaker Once Upon a Time as a lead-in. The highly anticipated and advertised Once Upon a Time musical episode was down from last week, at a 0.8. Once's lead-in, America's Funniest Home Videos, was down two tenths, but still was tied for #2 for the night. #1 was NBC's Little Big Shots, which itself took a steep three tenth fall. It's still doing very well for Sundays, but it's not the monster it once was. Chicago Justice and Shades of Blue were both affected by weaker lead-ins, with both down a tenth. Over on CBS, their bookends 60 Minutes and Elementary were both up. Over on Fox, Bob's Burgers had a great night, pulling a 0.9, improving on much of its post-DST ratings in the slot. Speaking of the rest of the lineup, The Simpsons continued to be strong, while Making History continued to be weak. The Last Man on Earth got the honor of airing two episodes directly out of Making History, and the result was a new series low.

TV Ratings 4/2/17: Match Game Returns Low, ACMs Down, The Simpsons Fractional (UPDATED)

Sunday night was a rough night for the networks. CBS had the best night with the ACM Awards, though they were down a bit. 60 Minutes took a huge 1 point and 4 tenths drop with no NCAA to help it, though it still easily won the 7 PM hour and was the #2 regularly scheduled program. NBC's Little Big Shots also has a rough drop, down five tenths. It lead into a fractional Chicago Justice and a series low Shades of Blue, both down a tenth. ABC was up a bit, but things were still ugly. Match Game improved on Time After Time, but returned to a new low. American Crime was helped out by the higher lead in, though it was still at pull-me-now ratings. Once Upon a Time dipped again to tie its series low. ABC's bright spot was an AFHV repeat at 7. Fox also had a terrible night, with Bob;s Burgers down two tenths from last week and The Simpsons hitting a series low. Making History also hit a new low, and The Last Man on Earth was down a tenth with Family Guy in repeats.

Finals Update: Little Big Shots (+0.1) adjusted up.

TV Ratings 3/26/17: Making History Steady, NCAA Helps CBS Improve (UPDATED)

Sunday night was a pretty up night for TV ratings. CBS had NCAA Basketball, and it really helped their lineup. 60 Minutes easily hit a 2017 high, NCIS: LA was close to a season high, Madam Secretary got out of fractional for the first time this year, while Elementary tied a season high. Needless to say, it was a good night to be CBS. ABC's Once Upon a Time rose a tenth to rebound from last week's low, and America's Funniest Home Videos (despite being a repeat) also rose. These gains couldn't help Time After Time, which stayed at 0.4, or American Crime, which dipped to a horrific 0.3. Little Big Shots on NBC rose a tenth, while the rest of the lineup stayed steady. On Fox, Bob;s Burgers and the Last Man on Earth both managed to gain a tenth, though Bob's at 8 PM was lower than last week's The Simpsons.

Finals Update: 60 Minutes (-0.2), Family Guy (-0.1) and repeats of America's Funniest Home Videos (-0.1) and Little Big Shots (-0.1) adjusted down.
