Beyond Borders' Ratings Declared Criminal by CBS, Canceled After 2 Seasons

CBS has decided to send Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders into retirement. After two seasons, the series will end its run after an underwhelming season ratings-wise. While the first season had decent ratings that warranted a renewal, the second season began at a series low and just got lower, ending with a 0.8 average that was weaker than fall/winter occupant Code Black but an improvement on the brief slot occupant Doubt. The Gary Sinise series eventually dipped as low as 0.7, far below last season's low point and about half of the mothership's average. This was a correct prediction for the TV Ratings Guide.

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders Ratings--Season 2 (2017)

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders did OK last season and was given another chance this season. It still got to air after the parent show, and yet sometimes could barely manage 50% retention. It didn't seem to be too lead-in dependent either, as shown from when it had Survivor as a lead-in, indicating that the audiences for Beyond Borders and the parent show could have been very different. Its low ratings led to a justified cancelation. Not a total failure like previous time slot occupant Doubt, but nothing to brag about either.
