Thursday TV Ratings 8/4/22: NFL Preseason Strong But Down from Opening 2021 Game, Big Brother Slips, Press Your Luck and Generation Gap Grow (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: NBC's broadcast of the 'Jaguars v. Raiders' NFL preseason game (1.41) topped the evening but was significantly down from the comparative 2021 game (preliminary 1.7 that adjusted up to a 2.0). ABC was completely unfazed by the notable football competition as 'Press Your Luck' (0.53, +0.07) soared to a new season high and 'Generation Gap' (0.46, +0.11) tied its previously-set high. 'The Con' (0.26, +0.03) grew at a more modest level in the 10PM slot. CBS's summer mainstay 'Big Brother' (0.73, -0.05) lost five-hundredths when stacked against last Thursday's installment. The 8PM repeat of 'Young Sheldon' (0.33) ticked up while 'Ghosts' (0.27), and 'CSI: Vegas' (0.19) dipped. Fox had anemic encores of 'MasterChef' (0.17) and 'Welcome to Flatch' (0.12/0.11). The CW's reruns of 'Walker' (0.03) and 'The Flash' (0.03) each shed a hundredth.
