FELIX
Hopefully not inept. But I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
DAVID

FELIX
He used to be in the Indianapolis Primitives’ bullpen.
DAVID
Who, Eli? As in, Eli the general manager?
FELIX

DAVID

FELIX

DAVID

DEVIN
As someone who also used to be in the Indianapolis Primitives’ bullpen, Felix, I take personal offense to your statements. And come to think of it, shouldn’t you also, given you spent two—
FELIX

DAVID
Felix, I know who you are. You spent two years in that bullpen before getting demoted to this place.
FELIX

DAVID
Me? Oh, I just limp around.
FELIX

DAVID
I played first base for the Primitives for the past two years. Did you seriously never notice that?
FELIX

DAVID
Well now I’m here, patiently waiting for my leg to get all better so I can play in the majors again. Why did I go for a jog?
DEVIN

DAVID

DEVIN
I apparently provided low entertainment value. Whatever that means.
DAVID holds back a laugh.
DAVID, DEVIN, and FELIX all hear ELI yell for them to come in. They enter his office.
ELI
So what brings you here today?
DEVIN
Uh…you do.
ELI
Right. So, I just wanted to get a chance for everyone to say hi.
After a long pause:
ELI
Aren’t you all gonna say hi to me?
FELIX
Uh…hi.
ELI
That’s better. Now, which one of you wants to get promoted to the Primitives?
ALL
ME!!!
ELI
That’s the spirit, wanting to leave my team. You know, I was also in the majors once upon a time. Got demoted to the minors for ineptness. Anyways good talk!
ELI leaves.
FELIX
Dear God I cannot catch a break can I.
DEVIN
Just try to make the best of it. Maybe one day you’ll be back in the majors.
DAVID
That day will come soon for me, hopefully. But until then, go fish!
DEVIN
Huh?
DAVID
Because we’re the Fisher Fishers?
FELIX
I don’t know how to fish.
DAVID rolls his eyes.
DAVID
Come on, you guys want to meet some of our temporary teammates?
DEVIN
Temporary? Permanent for me!
FELIX
Double-A is always an option. And it’s the minors, people come and go like crazy. But sure, let’s meet them.
