Wednesday TV Ratings 8/5/20: Big Brother Returns In Solid Fashion, United We Fall Steady, Coroner Premiere Grows from The 100 in Viewers (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: For the first time since 'The Masked Singer' left the airwaves, Wednesday nights perked up a bit thanks to the return of CBS's 'Big Brother' (1.0). It was a decent return for the longtime staple, down just three-tenths from its June 2019 premiere (1.3) and only behind NBC's 'America's Got Talent' as far as summer 2020 broadcast programming goes. But the significantly stronger lead-out had no effect on 'Tough As Nails' (0.5), the reality series held even at 8pm. While overshadowed by the return of the juggernaut, ABC's 'United We Fall' (0.5) held even in week three and bested every non-CBS program. 'Agents of SHIELD' (0.3) was also even at 10pm for its penultimate episode. Comedy repeats (0.4/0.3/0.3) populated the slots in-between. NBC had a semi-decent 'One Chicago' lineup (0.3/0.3/0.4) but fell behind Fox's 'MasterChef' encore (0.4). The CW's 'The 100' (0.1) shed a tenth and led into the low-rated series premiere of 'Coroner' (0.1).

Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary ratings.
