ABC's reboot of American Idol is still airing, and seems likely to continue next season. However, NBC doesn't care and plans on rebooting the show for a launch next season, anyway. That's right: next season, get ready for not one, but two very different American Idols. NBC's Idol will be set in Chicago, instead of the usual setting of Hollywood. The series hasn't yet set its judging panel, but SVU creator Dick Wolf, 30 Rock star Tina Fey, MSNBC's Brian Williams, former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Donald Trump impersonator Alec Baldwin are all in the mix. As expected, Carson Daly (Today, The Voice) will be hosting. NBC's Idol is expected to launch on Sundays in March 2019, meaning it will directly compete with ABC's version.
