ABC Renew/Cancel - December 8: Agents of SHIELD is Likely to be Renewed

Agents of SHIELD premiered last Friday with a two-hour premiere, and it will be taking over the timeslot that Inhumans aired in for most of the fall. So, this week's ABC Renew/Cancel has my initial prediction for Agents of SHIELD.

Toss-Up
Kevin Probably Saves the World (0.7, 0.6-1.0)

Likely to be Renewed
Agents of SHIELD (0.7)
Designated Survivor (0.8, 0.7-1.1)
Fresh Off the Boat (1.1, 0.9-1.4)
Once Upon a Time (0.6, 0.5-0.7)
Speechless (1.1, 1.0-1.4)

Certain to be Renewed
American Housewife (1.3, 1.0-1.6)
Black-ish (1.2, 1.0-1.5)
The Good Doctor (1.9, 1.6-2.2)
Grey's Anatomy (2.0, 1.8-2.3)
How to Get Away with Murder (0.9, 0.9-1.1)

Fate Determined
The Goldbergs (RENEWED)
The Middle (FINAL SEASON)
Modern Family (RENEWED)
Scandal (FINAL SEASON)
Ten Days in the Valley (DE-FACTO CANCELED)

Agents of SHIELD: While 0.7 isn't all that impressive of a premiere rating, even on Friday, I am predicting renewal for Agents of SHIELD. In September, Variety reported that ABC intended to cancel Agents of SHIELD last spring, but Disney insisted that it be renewed. I don't know if Disney will do the same this season, but I am leaning in the direction that they will.

Fresh Off the Boat: Recently, it has been reported that Disney is interested in buying 20th Century FOX, among other assets. If this deal happens, then ABC would have more reason to want to renew Fresh Off the Boat, as they would benefit from it entering syndication. So, it's possible that I upgrade it to "certain to be renewed" sometime in the future.

Speechless: The deal with Disney and FOX that I mentioned above would also benefit Speechless. ABC currently co-produces the show with 20th Century FOX, and if the deal goes through, they would have more motivation to get Speechless to 88 episodes, and it will be halfway there at the end of this season.
