Ratings Report Card: FOX Reality

Here are the ratings of the FOX reality shows that have finished for the season, as well as a little recap and a grade for their performances. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Hell's Kitchen
Ratings

Hell's Kitchen started the night off for FOX on Fridays and did a great job at doing so. It never went fractional and stayed competitive with the other networks. When it moved to Thursdays later in the season, its ratings went up and were a sizable improvement over Rosewood's. In the fall, it was around the performance in relative ratings on Friday as MasterChef Junior, much ahead of what previous time slot occupants have done. Finally, it was only down 3% from last year's raw numbers. I would have liked to see it rise for its finale instead of fall, but that's just a minor hiccup.

Grade: A

My Kitchen Rules
Ratings

My Kitchen Rules aired after an incredibly compatible lead-in. And to say the least, the Australian version that came before the US version is a massive hit. That one airs four nights a week and is almost always the #1 show on its night. Of course, Australia is a much smaller country population-wise than the US, meaning it only needed a little over a million viewers to do so. My Kitchen Rules had a lot going for it, but simply didn't do all that great. It was, at the very least, around on par with the ratings of previous time slot occupant Pitch, so that's a solid.

Grade: C-

TV Ratings 3/2/17: My Kitchen Rules Ends Higher, The Voice Boosts NBC, When We Rise Lower (UPDATED)

Thursday night was another irregular night, with most of CBS and all of ABC's usual programming taking the night off, as well as the finale of My Kitchen Rules. For ABC, the hurting continued with When We Rise and a When We Rise documentary pulling 0.5s, putting them in a tie with The CW for last place pulling a 0.4 and 0.5, respectively, giving ABC last (yes, last) place. Speaking of the CW, Riverdale ticked back up to a 0.4 while Supernatural held steady. Pn CBS, their repeats did very well for them. Life in Pieces held steady with last week despite being a repeat, while Training Day ticked up two tenths despite having a steady lead in. NBC had the best night, with the Voice pulling a 2.3, and helping to easily boost Chicago Med to a season high. It also helped out Redemption, which was up two tenths from its series premiere. Fox had another night of cooking shows, with My Kitchen Rules rising for its finale and Masterchef Junior taking a small hit.

Finals Update: A Life in Pieces repeat (-0.1) adjusted down.

TV Ratings 2/23/17: Redemption Starts Low, HTGAWM Ends On the Rise, Riverdale Keeps Falling (UPDATED)

Thursday night saw a few irregular airings, with Chicago Med and Scandal taking the week off and The Blacklist: Redemption beginning its short run. On NBC, they had a pretty rough night. Superstore stayed steady, but Powerless slipped a tenth and The Blacklist was down a few tenths from Chicago Med in its special slot. Redemption started very poorly, only mustering a 0.8, down from the Blacklist's performance in the slot last week. ABC had a decent night, with HTGAWM rising for its finale, but Grey's Anatomy falling a tenth. The Big Bang Theory on CBS stayed even with last week's season low, while the remaining comedies all dropped. Fox's reality lineup stayed pretty steady, with Masterchef Jr ticking up. On the CW, both shows fell a tenth, with Riverdale slipping to a new low.

Finals Update: How to Get Away With Murder (-0.1) and Training Day (-0.1) adjusted down.

Thursday night was a relatively quiet night, with no new premieres or finales. That will all change next week. On the CW, Supernatural rose, while Riverdale fell a tenth. On ABC, Scandal was up, while Grey's was down and HTGAWM, entering the home stretch, was steady once again. NBC's The Blacklist which aired its final 10 PM episode for a while, was steady at 0.9. Powerless and Superstore were steady, too, while Chicago Med rose from Finals. On CBS, The Big Bang Theory took its first dip below 3.0 in nearly a decade, while the Great Indoors rose. Training day continued to decline, getting a 0.7.

Finals Update: Grey's Anatomy (+0.1) and the Big Bang Theory (+0.1) adjusted up. Scandal (-0.1) adjusted down.

TV Ratings 2/9/17: Powerless Holds Up Poorly, Masterchef Junior Starts Well (UPDATED)

Thursday night was much less eventful than last Thursday, but we did see the return of the Great Indoors on CBS after a week off. On CBS, the Big Bang Theory ticked down, as did Training Day and Great Indoors. The 9 PM comedies were able to hold steady. On NBC, both comedies ticked down, with Powerless going fractional already. The rest of the lineup held steady. On ABC, Grey's and Scandal slid once again, with HTGAWM holding steady and easily leading its time slot. The CW, for the fourth straight night this week, held onto last week's numbers. Fox premiered Masterchef Junior, which improved on Hell's Kitchen and lead into a season high My Kitchen Rules.

Finals Update: Riverdale (+0.1) adjusted up. Powerless (-0.1), Chicago Med (-0.1), The Great Indoors (-0.1), and Mom (-0.1) adjusted down.
