Writer’s Block Season 3 Episode 5: Ed Writes An Episode

JACK and NOAH are sitting in their apartment. They have just gotten off the phone with an executive at the DC Network, who told them ED’s episode will be aired immediately instead of the one already produced.

JACK

Well I guess you can call this a disaster.

NOAH

Why didn’t you say anything like that on the call then?

JACK

I don’t want to get fired from my own show.

NOAH

You’d sacrifice the integrity of the show for the sake of your job?

JACK

It’s not a bad script per say, but I do question if Ed has a similar vision for the show was we do.

NOAH

Oh I get it. Lots of slapstick humor in there. He’s good at that.

JACK

But it’s not our show. Read the third page again. Two fart jokes.

NOAH

Okay, so maybe Ed’s episode has no storyline and it’s just a bunch of overdone jokes put together, but…oh.

JACK

Yeah.

NOAH

Should we call Ed and give him a piece or our minds?

JACK pauses.

NOAH

You know you want to.

JACK

How about this: we wait to see how it does in the ratings. We don’t want to criticize a comedy legend if the ratings rise.

NOAH

I have a feeling you’re only saying that because you’re too scared to call Ed, but it’s actually a good reason. Guess we just wait and see how it does.
