Ratings Analysis: Although it was Halloween night, viewers still turned out for game 5 of the 'World Series' (3.14) in a big way. With the help of 'NFL Overrun' (5.08) and 'The OT' lead-in (3.28), the fifth game went well above the previous four in the 18-49 demographic. Despite the surge on Fox, NBC's 'Cowboys v. Vikings' NFL game (4.35) beat out the baseball broadcast by a solid margin. This rating was just a single hundredth behind the week-ago 'Colts v. 49ers' game (4.36). Earlier in the evening, 'Football Night in America' (1.3/3.2) was down seven-tenths at 7pm but even with last week at 7:30. After taking last week off, 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (0.46, -0.01), 'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' (0.44, -0.06), 'Supermarket Sweep' (0.35, -0.08), and 'The Rookie' (0.32, -0.04) all fell by a couple hundredths on ABC. 'Wheel' and 'Sweep' actually posted higher ratings for last week's encores than these originals. Without NFL help, CBS's '60 Minutes' (0.60, -0.84) plummeted back down to Earth while 'The Equalizer' (0.59, -0.25) dropped by a more digestible two-tenths. 'NCIS: Los Angeles' (0.47, -0.09) and the final broadcast episode of Paramount+-bound 'SEAL Team' (0.33, -0.07) only lost a tenth in comparison. The CW's 'Legends of the Hidden Temple' (0.05, -0.03) shed three-hundredths and led into encores of 'Masters of Illusion' (0.08/0.05).
Finals Update: 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (+0.1), 'Supermarket Sweep' (+0.1), 'NFL Overrun' (+0.7), 'NFL: Cowboys v. Vikings' (+0.9) and '2021 World Series Game 5' (+0.3) adjusted up.
