Coach Garry Season 1 Episode 12: Coach Jaxon

The Automobiles are in the dugout at a Mini League game.

GARRY

Listen up everyone.

HUDSON

Another one of these?

WESLEY

Just let him talk.

LANDON

Your obsession with Mini League baseball is weird.

GARRY

Alright, just look at the starting lineup then.

BRAYDEN

Left field…Cooper, want to switch with me?

GARRY

No switching.

COOPER

Alright Brayden, let’s switch.

GARRY

I said no switching! Jaxon, what are you doing?

JAXON

Writing up a new batting lineup and fielding positions.

GARRY

Um, who put you in charge?

JAXON

I did.

Everyone looks at JAXON’s lineup.

SANTIAGO

This lineup is WAY better than yours, Garry.

GARRY

Garry?! Whatever happened to Coach?!

COLTON

I thought you didn’t want to always be called Coach Garry.

GARRY

Well I do now. For respect.

JAXON

Alright everyone, let’s go out there and win this game!

Everyone goes to their fielding positions, very few of which were on GARRY’s version of the lineup. They all do their part to get out of the inning without giving up any runs.

JAXON

Anything to say for yourself, “Coach Garry?”

GARRY

Yeah. I don’t like it. Back to the positions I made for next inning.

JAXON

Fine. I’ll take your suggestion.

GARRY

Not a suggestion.

When everyone goes into the positions GARRY made for them, they give up four runs.

LANDON

Guess your lineup was shit, Garry. Jaxon, your lineup was the shit!

GARRY

What’s the difference? I mean, stop swearing!

LANDON

Make me.

GARRY

I’ll tell your parents again!

LANDON

They swear more than me. By the way, I’m pitching next inning.

GARRY

No you’re not.

GAVIN

I don’t feel like pitching.

GARRY

But you’re scheduled to pitch the first four innings!

JAXON

Not according to my schedule.

GAVIN

Yeah, Coach Jaxon said I don’t have to pitch.

GARRY

Coach JAXON?! You know what? I have something to say.

HUDSON

When don’t you?

GARRY

I’ve realized the reason you’re rising up against me is that I’m being too tough on you. I need to listen to you guys more often to see what your wants and needs are. From now on, one person per game gets to pick which position they play and where they are in the batting order. Sound good?

JAXON

Yeah. Being coach is tough. Everyone always complains about you when something goes wrong. I’m stepping down as coach.

GARRY

You were never coach. Now having any organization for this game is already a lost cause, so for today only I’ll make it a free-for-all.

The Automobiles play the rest of the game and lose 14 to 1.
