Fantasy Island: It's one of the very few scripted shows on broadcast television this summer, but that doesn't mean anyone has really cared about watching it. Fantasy Island has certainly not been a ratings success for Fox, averaging just a 0.30 in the five episodes it has aired since its debut in early August. However, I still don't think the show is dead. Yesterday, Fox indicated at their TCA event that they are interested in bringing back the show, touting how cost-effective it is to film the series and stating how "proud" they are of the series. Of course, plenty of series have been axed by their networks despite positive spins at press events, but this is a sign that they don't consider the show to be a complete lost cause. Also in the show's favor is the recent order of a two-part holiday special, apparently to air later this year. Is that really something a network would do for a show they're ready to cancel? I'm not so sure. The ratings here (this show hit a 0.2 this week!) point towards cancellation, but there aren't many signs from Fox that they plan on canceling the show. That's why I'm upgrading it to LEANS RENEWAL, in spite of the terrible ratings.

The Ultimate Surfer: We've had plenty of low-rated summer entries on ABC in the past seasons, and plenty of them have had similar post-BachelorVerse slots. Few of them have returned, and none of them have rated lower than this colossal bomb. On Tuesday night, as Bachelor in Paradise rose week-to-week to a 0.8, Ultimate Surfer drew just a 0.22. That is.. not good. In fact, it echoes the retention by the CBS Wednesday night bomb House Calls with Dr. Phil, which drew a similar 0.2 out of Big Brother's 0.9 this week. Like House Calls, I can't imagine any reason for ABC to want to bring back The Ultimate Surfer, as it's shown absolutely zero potential. It's a CERTAIN CANCELLATION, the second show of the season to be awarded that dubious dishonor.

What do you think of my predictions? What are your predictions? Let me know in the comments and vote in the poll of the week!
