Tuesday TV Ratings 1/5/21: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Has Tepid Return, This Is Us Hits Series Low in Midseason Premiere, Nurses Abysmal (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: NBC's 'This Is Us' (1.0) was down two-tenths from its November closer, falling to a new series low in the process. The award-winning drama had less lead-in help than usual as 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' (0.5) made a lackluster return in the 8pm slot. Although 'Zoey' beat out the 0.4s it was posting in spring 2020, the dramedy remains in very mediocre territory. The peacock network capped the evening with an original episode of 'Nurses' (0.3). Despite having a much stronger lead-in, the drama inched down to a new low-point. On ABC, a special presentation of the 2019 'Lion King' remake (0.7) debuted in strong fashion, the film led into coverage of the Georgia Senate Runoff (0.4). CBS had repeats of 'NCIS' (0.6), 'FBI' (0.5), and 'FBI: Most Wanted' (0.4) while Fox got decent mileage out of a Gordon Ramsay special (0.4). The CW had 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.1/0.1) and 'Masters of Illusion' (0.1/0.1).

Finals Update: Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip (+0.1) and the repeat of FBI (+0.1) adjusted up.
