Saturday TV Ratings 8/1/20: NHL Return Draws Decent Interest, MLB Stays on Top (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: There wasn't any renewed interest for Saturday night programming on the first day of August but at least the numbers weren't any further below the dismal ones that populate the other six days of the week. Fox's 'MLB' game (0.5) took the lead but was down two-tenths from last week's broadcast of the Yankees v. National game (0.7). NBC countered Fox's baseball with hockey (0.4) but was only a tenth above what the network managed last week with repeats of 'Dateline' and 'SNL'. ABC had a nice little rebound as 'AFV' and 'Shark Tank' repeats (0.3/0.3) comfortably outperformed the 0.1 that 'NBA Countdown' garnered last week. And the 10pm 'Good Doctor' encore (0.2) was up a tenth from a week ago. CBS was on par with the alphabet network, offering up encore presentations of 'NCIS: Los Angeles' (0.2) and '48 Hours' (0.3/0.3).

Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary ratings.
