NBC Renews The Blacklist for Eighth Season

Veteran Friday drama The Blacklist will be back for another season on NBC. The show is currently on hiatus but averaged a decent 0.51 airing on Fridays during the fall. The show had to re-sign stars James Spader and Megan Boone after this season, as their contracts were coming to an end. That potential hurdle led to some questions about whether the show would be back, but in the end, everything worked out for the show and the entire cast will be back. The show was perhaps assisted by Lincoln Rhyme performing worse in its slot this winter, despite a friendlier ratings environment (Rhyme currently averages a 0.47). It's not currently planned for season eight to be the end of Blacklist's run, though things could obviously change by this time next year.
