INT. CAFETERIA - AFTERNOON
Janice enters the scene.
She approaches the girls.
Terri and Abigail sigh as Janice hands them both pieces of paper.
JANICE (CONT’D)
You’ll be preparing for this board meeting tomorrow to clear this from your record. Tables set, microphone check in the gymnasium, and reserved signs taped to each row in the reserved section. We’re reserving this for parents and community members. Is that clear?
ABIGAIL
Yes, ma’am.
Terri nods.
BACK TO PRESENT EPISODE.
INT. GYMNASIUM - AFTERNOON
Terri and Abigail are serving after school detention preparing for the big event.
Abigail checks the mics one by one, with a tap on her finger.
Terri is setting reserved signs.
ABIGAIL
There goes our perfect record.
TERRI
Let’s focus on this thing, okay?
ABIGAIL
(frustratingly)
None of this would have happened if this fight is handled in a rational manner.
TERRI
We’re not going to point fingers at each other right now. I don’t blame you for what happened. I should have approached you calmly.
ABIGAIL
Well it is over now. Dad is p****** at me.
Terri looks at Abigail.
ABIGAIL (CONT’D)
Okay, let’s take a moment.
TERRI
Alrighty then.
SUPER: HOURS LATER
Parents and students are gathered in the auditorium.
Board members (FEMALE BOARD MEMBER #1, FEMALE BOARD MEMBER #2, MALE BOARD MEMBER #1, RANDY, and Peter) assemble in their assigned board seats.
Peter solemnly looks at the audience.
Randy smiles, only for a moment.
Mr. Coleman walks over to the podium to give a speech.
INT. CAFETERIA - EVENING
Outside the gym, Terri, Abigail, Katie, and Natasha are at the refreshment table.
Katie grabs some punch.
Yvette enters the cafeteria with a smile on her face.
Natasha turns towards Yvette.
NATASHA
I thought you were suspended!
YVETTE
I was. Now I’m not. I came with backup.
Behind Yvette, is a wagon. With a laptop computer, a portable projector, and a disk.
KATIE
What is that?
YVETTE
When you’re ready, take this to the audio control area.
She turns around.
A group of five police officers raid the compound.
One of them, Yvette’s dad, JACKSON, gives her the nod.
Yvette then gives the wagon to Katie.
YVETTE
Go now!
Katie and Natasha enter the gym with the wagon.
INT. GYMNASIUM - EVENING
All of a sudden, the students, parents, and board members turn around.
OFFICER #1 grabs the handcuffs.
He heads with Jackson over to where Randy sits.
OFFICER #1
Randall McClellan?
In a defiant manner, Randy attempts to resist as the two
officers put his hands behind his back to handcuff him.
INT. CAFETERIA - EVENING
Abigail's eyes widen in horror. She turns towards her dad as he is escorted out of the gym.
INT. GYMNASIUM - EVENING
Then she rushes inside.
She gets on the podium.
ABIGAIL
What is going on here?
With the wagon, Katie and Natasha rush towards the audio area of the gym.
AUDIO CONTROL AREA
Katie heads to a sound booth.
Natasha takes what appears to be a projector, a computer, and a disc.
The image enters into the gymnasium wall.
INSERT - PROJECTED COMPUTER SCREEN
revealing a candid conversation between Randy and Mr. Coleman.
The rest of the board, including Peter (Terri’s dad), angrily turn towards Mr. Coleman.
Peter rushes to the podium.
PETER
So this is where the missing money went, huh Vance? And Randall?
The parents and students furiously leave one by one.
BACK TO THE CAFETERIA.
Terri watches in amazement.
Her eyes widen in shock.
BACK TO THE GYMNASIUM.
Yvette comes into the gymnasium.
Mr. Coleman angrily looks at Yvette.
MR. COLEMAN
Who told you to come here? I thought you were suspended.
Yvette looks at the other officers.
Abigail leaves the gymnasium.
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - EVENING
Abigail reacts angrily as she runs towards Randy in handcuffs.
ABIGAIL
How could you do this, Dad? You were supposed to protect me!
Randy freezes with an anxious disposition.
BACK TO THE GYMNASIUM.
With a horrified look, Mr. Coleman rushes towards Yvette.
MR. COLEMAN
Stop this right now, Miss Davis.
OFFICER #3, OFFICER #4, and OFFICER #5 storm towards Mr.
Coleman.
OFFICER #3
I don't think that is necessary. Put your hands behind your back.
MR. COLEMAN
What are you doing? I'm not a crook! I'm not a crook!
The officers, unfazed, put Mr. Coleman in handcuffs. They escort him away from the gymnasium.
The audience and board members watch in complete amazement.
Cassidy, sitting among the audience, is recording the entire exchange.
She cheers as Mr. Coleman is dragged away.
CASSIDY
Look who’s in trouble now.
As the screen shuts off, Terri enters the podium with Yvette.
TERRI
Well, well, well.
YVETTE
Guess we won’t be having any more issues with Coleman anymore.
They hug each other.
SUPER: A FEW DAYS LATER
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY
Students file everywhere, laughing and gossiping.
The exchange hit national news.
Abigail is at her locker. A solemn look enters her face.
Terri, Natasha, and Katie enter the scene.
Cassidy follows.
CASSIDY
Abbs, how you holding up?
ABIGAIL
There will likely be a trial. Dad’s about to go away for a long time.
Tears flow from her face. Natasha comforts her.
The girls walk away to class.
