ABC's longest-running drama will scrub in for another season, as Grey's Anatomy has been renewed for season 23. The show was once a near-untouchable hit, but has weakened in linear ratings, and is among ABC's lowest-rated shows in the same-day 18-49 demo this season, with a 0.19 average. However, it remains a valuable show for ABC overall, thanks to solid delayed ratings gains and strong international sales. Budget cuts have hit the show in recent years, and it was just announced that longtime cast members Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver would exit the show after its current season. The show has also run for shorter seasons as of late, with an eighteen-episode order for the last two seasons, which lines up with fellow Thursday night drama 9-1-1. This doesn't come as much of a shock, as ABC has reportedly been in contract negotiations with the show's stars, particularly lead actress Ellen Pompeo, for some time. The show has averaged 1.06 in the 18-49 demo for its current season thus far, and is one of just three scripted shows averaging above the 1.0 mark. Grey's is ABC's longest-running scripted show on their current lineup and will have aired 380 episodes by the end of the season, likely surpassing 400 episodes next season. Alongside Pompeo, the series also stars James Pickens Jr, Chandra Wilson, Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver, Jesse Williams, Caterina Scorsone and Kelly McCreary, and was created by Shonda Rhimes.
