TV Ratings 8/24/17: The Night Shift Rises, Big Brother Sinks (UPDATED)

It was yet again an adjustment-filled Thursday, with most shows adjusting down from their preliminary ratings. Despite that, some shows actually managed to be up week-to-week. None of those shows were on CBS. Big Brother had a steep 0.4 decline to 1.7, nearly a Thursday low point. Behind BB, Zoo sank two tenths to an embarrassing and just plain sad 0.4. NBC had the best night, with the finale of SNL Weekend Update, The Night Shift, and the repeat of Great News all ticking up from last week. The Wall, however, was down. On ABC, the Boy Band finale was higher than last week, though Battle of the Network Stars ticked down to an ugly dumber. Fox and CW were both rock solid.

TV Ratings 8/10/17: SNL Weekend Update Starts Well, Night Shift, Wall, and Many Others Fall (UPDATED)

Due to heavy preemptions, everything adjusted down by a lot. I didn't provide my analysis earlier since there wasn't really anything to analyze, so I'll do it now. NBC's The Wall easily sand to a new series low, hitting a 0.7. SNL Weekend Update premiered for the Summer with a strong 1.2, easily topping everything but Big Brother last night. Behind it, a repeat of Great News did terribly as expected with a 0.5. And with Great News goes The Night Shift, which saw a new low of 0.5. On ABC, Boy Band was actually steady with last week, while The Story of Diana ran slightly ahead of last weeks BOTNS/Gong Show duo and was steady with Wednesday. Fox was also effected, with the recently-renewed Love Connection ticking down to a new low of 0.5. Beat Shazam was also down to a new low, receiving a 0.7. On CBS, Big Brother was steady week-to-week, though it was down from Sunday's episode. Zoo actually ticked up by two tenths, though the 0.6 is still really weak for the show. The CW's reality lineup was down a tenth, though the Whose Line? repeat actually was steady.

TV Ratings 8/3/17: Boy Band Stays Steady, NFL Preseason Football Takes the Crown (UPDATED)

It was a pretty steady night for broadcast, with only most originals being steady week-to-week. However, NBC saw huge w2w gains, with preseason football replacing the Thursday block for the week. Football was obviously a much bigger draw, and it pulled in a 2.3 in the demo, more than double last week's average. But Football didn't really seem to effect the other networks, with only Beat Shazam on Fox ticking down. The already-renewed game show didn't hold on to last week's uptick, but it's not a bad number, especially when considering that it's dipped this low without football in the past. As for Love Connection, it stayed steady at a very meh 0.6. ABC's lineup stayed anemic, with all three steady at their previous low points (though Boy Band did hit a 0.4 in the second half). It's not promising for these shows that are just in their infancy, and it's very unlikely that this lineup will be returning in its entirety next year. CBS had Big Brother steady at 1.9. The shows once again just barely failed to crack a 2.0, though it is getting even closer, having hit a 2.0 in its first half-hour. Zoo continued to flop like nobody's business, stuck at 0.5 for a third week. The 8:30 repeat of Kevin Can Wait ticked up a tenth while TBBT was steady. The CW tried out a new lineup, replacing the new Monday occupant Hooten & the Lady with Whose Line?, and things worked out well Whose Line? hit a new season high, up a tenth from its latest episode and double what it premiered to. The Whose Line? original/repeat combo came in at double the rating that Hooten & the Lady had received in its weeks in the slot.

Updated: Sunday Night Preseason Football (+0.2) adjusted up. A Whose Line? repeat (-0.1) and Zoo (-0.1) adjusted down, marking an ugly low for the latter.

TV Ratings 7/13/17: Hooten & the Lady Has Weak Start, The Wall Rises, Love Connection Falls (UPDATED)

ABC's already low Thursday lineup got a little worse as Battle of the Network Stars (0.7) lost a tenth from last week. It was surrounded by steady Boy Band (0.6) and The Gong Show (0.7).

NBC decided to shut down Hollywood Game Night for one night in favor of an America's Got Talent clip show (1.2). It was a good bit higher than the average Hollywood Game Night result and helped elevate The Wall (1.2) to a summer high. Despite the lead-in increase, The Night Shift (0.7) was steady with last week.

CBS had more comedy repeats (1.0/0.8) leading into Big Brother (1.8) which lost a tenth from last week. At 10, Zoo (0.6) was steady.

FOX had the return of their game show line-up. Beat Shazam (0.9) was steady with its last result, but Love Connection (0.6) hit a new low.

The CW had the premiere of Penn & Teller: Fool Us (0.4) which was even on a year-to-year basis. It led into the series premiere of Hooten & the Lady (0.2). The latter had a disappointingly low start.

Finals Update: The recap special of America's Got Talent (+0.1) adjusted up. A repeat of Life in Pieces (-0.1) adjusted down.
