Sunday TV Ratings 9/22/24: Matlock Off to Solid Start, Rescue: HI-Surf Premiere Weaker Than Universal Basic Guys Debut, Fever/Sun Matchup Easily Tops Other WNBA Playoff Games [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: CBS's Matlock reboot (0.44) got off to a solid start on Sunday night. The Kathy Bates drama fully retained its 60 Minutes lead-in (0.44, -1.05) and was only a few ticks behind its Big Brother lead-out (0.48, -0.07). Over on Fox, the series premiere of Rescue: HI-Surf (1.11) performed reasonably well, but the drama debuted with a lower rating than Universal Basic Guys (1.18) despite having a larger football lead-in. Later in the night, Guys (0.39, +0.20) and Bob's Burgers (0.33, +0.12) enjoyed some indirect NFL help. NBC's Chiefs/Falcons NFL game (5.68) barreled past the week-ago Bears/Texans (4.97). ABC went with repeats of America's Funniest Home Videos (0.18), High Potential (0.12), and 9-1-1 (0.10/0.11). The Chosen (0.04, +0.02) doubled on the CW. Key: (R) = repeat.
