In addition to the announcement of their midseason schedule, NBC has also announced that sci-fi drama La Brea will not return for a fourth season, ending its run after a shortened, six-episode third season that will premiere in January. The series was one of the lowest-rated on NBC last season, shedding 46% of its season one average to a 0.31 in the key 18-49 demographic. Despite this, NBC touted its multi-platform performance and renewed the series for what will now be its final season. The end of the series has been floated as a likely scenario since its third season pickup, with NBC having released cast members from contracts after the renewal. Natalie Zea, Jon Sera, Nicholas Gonzalez, Eoin Macken, Chike Okonkwo and Zara Gorecki star in the series.
