Another of the season's breakout comedies has secured a second season, as ABC has announced the renewal of the Philadelphia-set school comedy Abbott Elementary. The series has rated as one of the network's top comedies, this season, averaging 0.58 in the 18-49 demo and rating only a single hundredth behind top comedy The Goldbergs. The show has also been a social media sensation, establishing a strong online fanbase that can be reflected in the show's delayed multiplatform viewing figures. Quinta Brunson created, writes and stars in the series, which also features Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter and Chris Perfetti.
