Tuesday night saw the premieres of two new series, and neither exactly lit up the charts. Of the two, NBC's Rise did the higher numbers. Rise started with a 1.3, a usually pretty decent number for 10 PM, until you realize that its lead-in was over double that, and that it had 1.4/1.1 half-hours. That makes that look significantly less good. As for the rest of NBC, This Is Us roared to a 2.7 for its finale, while The Voice ticked up a tenth from last Tuesday. This all made for a great start to Tuesday, at least. Over on ABC, the other (not at all) big premiere was For the People, which started with a 0.8 in the ABC "death slot."This is obviously not a promising start in any way, and the show is clearly not long for this world. However, with a lead in from Blackish, which tumbled to a new series low at 9, and then another new series low (0.8) at 9:30, this is about the best For the People could do. Elsewhere, THe Middle fell a tenth while Fresh Off the Boat held steady. Over on CBS, long-time anchor NCIS was steady, while Bull and NCIS: New Orleans both climbed a tenth. The Fox comedies held steady at 0.7 and 0.6, despite a low lead-in from a repeat of Lethal Weapon. The CW had complete steadiness, which is good considering some of these rough numbers.
Finals Update: This Is Us (+0.1), The Voice (+0.1) Blackish (+0.1) and NCIS (+0.1) adjusted up. Rise (-0.1) failed to rise and actually adjusted down.
