Teachers Season 1 Finale Review

Teachers Season 1 Finale Review
I know I said that I'm going on hiatus but I couldn't leave without writing about Teachers. I need to finish what I started with this show and that's what I'm gonna do.

S1E10 "Last Day"

It's the end of the school year and all the teachers are having emotional goodbyes with their students...... except for Cecilia.
Her students leave her without saying goodbye after she gives them all boring book reports and this makes her wonder if she's a bad teacher. Meanwhile, the other teachers are exchanging gifts they received and Deb gets a big bottle of alcohol. She then shares it with the others and it was fine even when Caroline drank too much because Deb told her to relax. But it all went to hell when Mary-Louise drank a little and went mad because she's hypoglycemic.

While Cecilia went chasing after her, she overheard the principal planning to fire one of the teachers. She then tells the others and they all start to panic. Deb and Caroline go try to catch Mary Louise, Cecilia and Chelsea cry together about being bad teachers and their fear of being fired, while AJ tries to hide all her drugs. But before AJ could hide them, a parent shows up to talk about his kid's grades. In a moment of haste, she eats all the drugs at once and has a chat with him. To make matters worse, after he leaves, she has to deal with all the other parents of her students.

Eventually Deb and Caroline realise Mary-Louise, who is now running around naked, is too much to handle and round up the others. They corner her at the playground and she tries to escape in the slide but then the principal shows up and asks them what they were doing. Luckily Mary-Louise got stuck inside the slide so she wasn't caught.
Then suddenly, they all hear a sound coming from a shed nearby and find the principal's right hand smoking AJ's flute bong . The principal then apprehends him and tell him he's going to be fired, thus saving all the girls. In the end, they all stand around a bonfire together with happy talk and a puking Mary-Louise.

This wasn't one of the best episodes of the show, but it was still pretty good. I'm kinda glad they didn't have a cliffhanger finale. Those can be pretty annoying. Once again, AJ was my favourite in this episode. Her drug fueled interactions with the parents was rather humourous and gave me the quote of the week. She's officially my favourite teacher. And with this, I conclude Teachers season 1. May season 2 be twice as better with twice the episodes.

Quote of the week: "I'm gonna give that son of a mother a piece of my mind"

Teachers S1E9 Review

Have you ever met your doppelganger? I've actually met mine. He's pretty cool. We hang out sometimes

S1E9 "Hot Lunch"

This episode begins with Deb trying to get parents to volunteer at the school unsuccessfully. The others tell her to try to be nice instead of being abrasive but that doesn't work. But suddenly many parents show up to help out Deb despite her rude attitude. The parents at weird around her, asking her to speak to them in a mean way and constantly hoping for more duties. Deb is pleased with their help but soon discovers that they aren't helping her out of good faith. Turns out, a Harry Potter porn parody had spread throughout the school featuring a red headed dominatrix who looked and acted like Deb. At first Deb decided to keep up the charade, but ultimately tells them that it's not her after things get too weird. She then tells them that she is disappointed that they are here because of her instead of their own children and asks them to come back next week. Not surprisingly, they all leave without saying a word.

In Storyline B, Chelsea gets a new student who is a foreigner. Her attempts at connecting with her student fail and she gives up. But while reading a gossip magazine in class, the little girl points out a celebrity ( Whose name I refuse to mention due to my disdain towards her) on the cover and that makes Chelsea excited. She then uses famous celebrities in examples to teach her English.

In Storyline C, Mary-Louise signs up to perform a stand-up show at her Church and practices her routine in front of the others. Her jokes are so bad that the others tell her to stop, but Mary-Louise interprets their request as a form of jealousy. Surprisingly enough, she becomes a hit at her Church.

I'm glad we finally got an episode about Deb. This episode was pretty raunchy but I didn't mind.
Mary-Louise had some pretty crappy jokes so I wasn't interested in her this week. I was sad to see very little of AJ but at least we got more Deb in this episode.

Quote of the week: " Victoria Beckham can't feel happiness"

Teachers S1E8 Review

Have you ever been part of a project where you did all the work while everyone else did nothing? I've been on both sides of that coin and I can tell you that doing both isn't great

S1E8 "Sex Ed"

The episode begins with the principal's right hand/kissass who assigns the girls with different assignments for the week. Chelsea has to handle the gifted students, Mary-Louise has to teach sex ed while the rest have to organise the Field Day programme. Mary-Louise is surprised and uncomfortable because she is a virgin and doesn't know anything about sex and this leads to a very awkward session with her students. To make matters worse, Hot Dad returns as a volunteer for the sex ed class which makes Mary-Louise act weird around him. Eventually Hot dad has to take control after Marry-Louise tries to kiss him. Eventually, it is revealed to the class that she is a virgin but Mary-Louise stands up for herself and tells the class that she is just waiting for the right guy. Hot Dad is impressed and tells her she did a good job during Field Day. This leads to Mary-Louise running and jumping in excitement, but ultimately losing her hymen in the process.

In Storyline B, Deb and AJ are left to work on the Field Day event while Cecilia ans Caroline debate about whether or not everyone should be winners. Deb and AJ get so annoyed by them that they trap them in the storage room on Field Day, while Deb and AJ host all the events.

In Storyline C, Chelsea has to deal with a problematic and scary parent who wanted her idiot son to be a part of the gifted student programme

I'm glad that they are trying to change Mary-Louise by challenging her "Good Girl" stereotype. I'm betting she Hooks up with Hot Dad in the season finale. Deb and AJ had a good plot too while Cecilia and Caroline were kinda annoying. Forgive me for being philosophical, but I think they were both wrong. In contradiction to Caroline, I believe that winning isn't everything but at the same time, in contradiction to Cecilia, not everybody can be a winner. Chelsea's story was my least favourite as I felt that it was rather unsettling and strange. My favourite part of the episode was when Mary-Louise tried to explain how reproductive organs work.

Quote of the week: "Those jump ropes were the worst. It was like a Rubik's cube and a Sudoku banged each other and had a devil baby "

Teachers S1E7 Review

Teachers S1E7 Review
Freedom of speech has always been a controversial topic. Even in small social circles, this freedom can be limited. This episode is an example of blocking free speech.

S1E7 "Bad Tweeter"

This episode begins with Chelsea posting a raunchy tweet on Twitter which leads to her getting suspended by the principal. Cecilia tries to stand up for her but she gets suspended as well for being too annoying. After this Mary-Louise tries to bring back Chelsea, even though she had already run off to a wine tasting retreat. She goes to talk to the principal but then ends up revealing all the other weird things the teachers do in their free time. This causes the others to panic and get Cecilia to help them. Cecilia tries to organise a protest but the principal finds out and suspends all of them.In retaliation, Cecilia finds some dirt on the principal and uses it as leverage to lift everyone's suspensions. Upon finding about this, Chelsea sends out another raunchy tweet just so she doesn't have to go back to work.

In Storyline B, Caroline enlists AJ's help in dealing with a shy student. AJ helps the girl open up but she soon starts insulting everyone, including Caroline. AJ then steps up and puts the little girl in her place by scaring her with a weird story about otters. If that little girl spoke the way she did in my country, she would get 2 beatings and a slap to the face by any random person.

This episode was pretty good. It was interesting to learn some new things about the teachers like, how Deb is a Wicca. I could relate to this episode since censorship is a part of daily life in my country.
Cecilia was once again annoying but she saved the others so she was okay in this episode.
Once again, AJ was the highlight of this episode.

Quote of the week: " I don't wanna be a prison otter's b**ch. I'm sorry.

Teachers S1E6 Review

Everyone has dealt with their sexuality at least once in their life. Looks like that time has caught up to Mary-Louise.

S1E6 "Drunk Kiss"

While dealing with a drunk Chelsea at the local bar, Mary-Louise gets kissed by Chelsea and this makes her feel uncomfortable. She then spends the rest of the school day avoiding Chelsea while dealing with being kissed by another woman, to the point where she starts having odd daydreams about Chelsea and her making love. Meanwhile, Chelsea starts noticing Mary Louise's absence and starts missing her. She then realises that Mary-Louise is technically her best friend and tries to make her feel better even though she doesn't understand what is happening. Eventually she confronts Mary Louise and Mary Louise kisses her which shocks Chelsea. In the end, it is discovered that Chelsea actually kissed everyone that night which angers Mary-Louise to the point where she kisses Cecilia out of revenge.

In storyline B, AJ must undergo an evaluation after a psych report she filled disturbed everyone. She pretends to be a good teacher for her class in front of the evaluator but her kids get angry at her for acting weirder than usual. She then confronts the evaluator and tells him the truth about who she is. Instead of being moved by AJ's words, the evaluator just takes ecstacy as a bribe and passes her.

In storyline C, Cecilia and Caroline argue about "The System", a book Caroline has read which teaches that just by demanding something, the universe will grant it to you. Cecilia refuses to accept that the system works and tries to prove to Carolie that it doesn't.

It was interesting to see how the writers tried to break Mary-Louise's stereotype as the "Good Christian" girl. Sexuality is not usually dealt with in comedies, and it was refreshing to see how it was handled on the show. AJ was once again my favourite of the episode, though I think her story could have been better. Storyline C was rather uninteresting but still weird. Lastly, I felt like Deb has been underutilised since the first 2 episodes. She needs to be featured more.

Quote of the week: "I don't get paid enough to deal with these crazy bi****s"
