Kevin (Probably) Saves the World Canceled by ABC

Kevin (Probably) Saves the World Canceled by ABC
ABC has canceled fantasy comedy-drama Kevin (Probably) Saves the World after one season.

Kevin Probably premiered on Tuesdays at 10:00 this fall, and did well enough to get a small extension, making its first, and now only, season 16 episodes. However, it ended up not doing well enough to get a second season, as its ratings got worse. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.

ABC Renew/Cancel - January 26: Kevin Probably Saves the World is Likely to be Canceled

ABC Renew/Cancel - January 26: Kevin Probably Saves the World is Likely to be Canceled
This week, a change from last week has taken the headline. Not as much aired on ABC this week, with the Tuesday line-up, Speechless, and Modern Family taking the week off, but the Wednesday ratings were interesting, with the unusual line-up.

Kevin Probably Saves the World: As I noted last week, ABC is no longer supporting Kevin Probably like they were before. This week, a Match Game rerun aired in its timeslot instead of a rerun of the show itself. Things aren't looking good for the dramedy.

American Housewife: This show showed how it can do well in circumstances that aren't as easy as it has been given regularly this season. This week, it aired an episode at 8:30 in addition to its regular 9:30 episode. Also, Modern Family was a rerun. At 8:30, between The Goldbergs (1.7) and the Modern rerun (1.0), American Housewife scored a 1.4, a slightly above average rating. At 9:30, not only did American Housewife avoid creating a new season low, but it also avoided tying it's current one, growing a tenth from its lead-in to a 1.1. This shows the strength of the series, proving why it is certain to be renewed.

Speechless: With American Housewife tying Speechless's season high in its timeslot this week, without an original Modern Family as a lead-out, it is obvious that ABC can do better in this timeslot. If renewed, I am sure that Speehless will move. But will Speechless be renewed? How satisfied is ABC with its performance?

'Kevin Probably' Gets Additional Episodes, 'The Mayor' Gets Additional Scripts

In an attempt to help save the world and keep the mayor in office, ABC has given 3 additional episodes to newbie drama 'Kevin Probably' and 3 additional scripts to freshman comedy 'The Mayor'. Both shows have been struggling in the Adults 18-49 demographic. Their latest episodes garnered just a 0.7 rating and were the lowest-rated shows on ABC's Tuesday night line-up. 'The Mayor' focuses on Courtney Rose's transition from a small-time rapper to becoming the mayor of Fort Grey. 'Kevin Probably' centers on Kevin Finn's mission to save the world after he meets a celestial being.
