The Equalizer Canceled by CBS

CBS has finally made a decision on The Equalizer, and that news equals bad news for the show. The network has canceled their veteran Sunday night drama after five seasons. It was the final show on their lineup awaiting pickup news, after Poppa's House was canceled last week, with the network planning to announce their fall schedule in mere days, on May 7. The Equalizer was a strong ratings performer for the first few years of its run, but it faltered in recent years, after multiple time slot downgrades. With a 0.26 season average, it was tied for the second lowest-rated scripted series on the network this season, as it endured a move to 10 PM once Watson premiered. Despite the poor ratings, a spinoff was still in development this season, though CBS passed on that project two weeks ago. Like several other canceled CBS series this season, The Equalizer was a co-production, with NBCUniversal producing the series alongside CBS Studios. CBS and Universal were said to be in negotiations for a 13-episode final season, but they were unable to come to an agreement, resulting in the show's cancellation after a 74-episode run. The series finale will air on Sunday. Queen Latifah starred in the series, with Lorraine Toussaint, Liza Lapira, Adam Goldberg, Laya DeLeon Hayes and Tory Kittles co-starring. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
