CBS Renew/Cancel Week 14: Man with a Plan Likely to be Renewed

Man with a Plan enters the charts and two CBS dramas swap places. Let's see where things stand as Daylight Savings Time begins!

I should start off by admitting that I goofed in the last column. Somehow I forgot to include Man with a Plan on the table, so its finally debuting here a little over a month after premiering. Even with its exclusion, I think its safe to say it would have entered as Likely to be Renewed a few weeks ago too. Man with a Plan came back strong, ticking up one tenth from its season two premiere. The show held in the 0.9-1.0 range for the next three episodes before crashing to an 0.7 after a repeat of The Neighborhood. That 0.7 is a bit ugly to see, but it should rebound in the coming weeks. If nothing else, Man with a Plan feels like a schedule filler for the next few years.

There are two other changes on the charts this week, but they go hand in hand. After spending the entire season as Likely to be Renewed, Blue Bloods finds itself as Certain to be Renewed for the first time. With it moving to greener territory, MacGyver slides to Likely to be Renewed. As I've stated many times this season, it feels like one of the veterans has to give, and I like the odds on Blue Bloods escaping an early demise. MacGyver merely feels more ripe to pull the plug.

On the chart below, Young Sheldon is added to Officially Renewed, after snagging a two year renewal from CBS (its third and fourth). The renewal means Young Sheldon will remain on the air until at least the 2020-2021 television season.
