ABC Renew/Cancel - March 2: Designated Survivor is Likely to be Renewed

Regular programming is back now that the Olympics have ended, and many of ABC's shows struggled upon their return, whether they had been off the air for a couple of weeks, a little over a month, or since December, like Designated Survivor, which returned for the second half of its second season this week to a low result.

Designated Survivor: We are in an era now where streaming and international deals can mean a lot, but we rarely get much information on them. They got Quantico renewed last season, and I'm betting they will get Designated Survivor renewed this time around. However, that sentence in the headline is incomplete. It should be: "Designated Survivor is likely to be renewed and move to Fridays."

Speechless: This show has been making its case for renewal ever since it was announced this season would only be 18 episodes, and this week its case was the strongest, as it got a 1.1 in between 1.3s from lead-in The Goldbergs and lead-out Modern Family. I want to move it to the renewal side, but I'm feeling cautious.

The Good Doctor: Many ratings followers were shocked on Tuesday when it was revealed that the previous night's The Good Doctor fell to a new low of 1.3. However, new lows have been a common occurrence this week, due to the break that the Olympics caused (just take a look at Modern Family, also at 1.3 this week), and it isn't a bad rating. This doesn't harm The Good Doctor's chances. It will still return.
