Summer Renew/Cancel Week 4: Love Island Will Not Win a Renewal

It's week four of the Summer Renew/Cancel! There were a few new debuts in the past week, but Independence Day kept the number of originals pretty low. Despite that, we have a prediction change in store, so stay tuned!

What Would You Do?

Bring The Funny: Considering how solid this show did in its premiere, my prediction for it will seem a bit conservative. However, it's not like shows in the post-AGT slot are known for their remarkable stability. Even though that 1.2 start gives it plenty of cushion, it also has plenty of time to drop. As of right now it looks pretty good, and if it holds around here next week, you can expect an upgrade for it soon. At this point, it's too soon to see, and it will start exactly where fellow post-AGT show Songland is, at LEANS RENEWAL, even though it has a better chance of renewal than that show at this point.

Love Island: On the other end of the spectrum is the deeply unimpressive debut of Love Island on CBS. Expectations for it were low despite the heavy promotion, and it did about what people thought it would with a 0.6. It held there on night two, which is pretty much the only good piece of news for it ratings-wise. However, like with Bring The Funny, I'm starting conservatively here. CBS seems to be very much behind the show, and I don't think they'll want to give up on the show if it sticks around 0.6 or grows. I don't think it's likely that it does that though, so it starts in LEANS CANCELLATION. Considering how many times this show airs a week, the picture could look very different by next week.

Press Your Luck: After some thinking, I've decided to upgrade ABC's Wednesday night game show Press Your Luck. Even though it isn't some massive performer, it's still performing in-line with or higher than the rest of the lineup (besides The Bachelorette), and is relatively steady. Card Sharks is also doing well, but I'm not yet ready to upgrade it, as it's not quite on the level of Press Your Luck. I'll be keeping an eye on it when it returns next week. For now, though, Press Your Luck is a CERTAIN RENEWAL.

What do you think of my predictions? What are your predictions? Let me know in the comments and don't forget to vote in the poll of the week!
