Cable Renew/Cancel: Freeform, TNT, Syfy - Deadly Class Will Likely Relock and Reload

Welcome to the latest installment for Cable Renew/Cancel. A lot of shows have debuted and returned since the last update, and now is just as a good time for an update as ever. Here are the predictions.

Grown-ish: Despite being down a little bit from last season, Grown-ish is still the top rated show on Freeform. Since Freeform ratings have declined, a 0.24 adults 18-49 average is still quite good. For Freeform, that means Grown-ish is a lock to return for a third season. The show is certain to be renewed.

Good Trouble: Currently averaging a 0.18 in the key adults 18-49 demographic, the spin-off of The Fosters is down considerably from the final season of its parent show. On declining Freeform, that is still quite good, but we are waiting to see if the show stabilizes. For now, Good Trouble is likely to be renewed.

Deadly Class: The new show, Deadly Class, on Syfy, is enjoying the honor of being the top rated show this week, as it premiered to a 0.22 in the A18-49 demographic. This was a re-airing of the pilot episode which got a 0.11 last month, and this airing is double the ratings. Since we only have one datapoint and Syfy ratings are not necessarily stellar, we are waiting to see where it settles. For now, Deadly Class is likely to be renewed.

While the other two networks are quiet, there is plenty to say about Syfy predictions.

Channel Zero: With the swift cancelation of Z Nation, Syfy is mostly silent about recently wrapped Channel Zero's The Dream Door. As usual, ratings were abysmal. Since Syfy canceled Z Nation, my gut tells me Channel Zero is doomed. It's not a dream, it's reality. Channel Zero is certain to be canceled.

Z Nation: Surprisingly, the Renew/Cancel prediction was incorrect for one of the top rated shows on Syfy. After multiple cast and crew tweets, the show has been officially canceled. Ultimately, current ratings did not help sustain the rising costs of the show.

Van Helsing: With lower ratings than Z Nation, the vampire show and Canadian import was renewed for a fourth season by Syfy. Like similarly rated Wynonna Earp, it pays to be an international coproduction, and these are dirt cheap to make.

Nightflyers: Well, that was fast. Last night's Nightflyers' ratings collapsed to a 0.05 in the A18-49 demographic. That is definitely not a renewable number for Syfy, and ratings have been falling since I have started it at "leans renewal". At that level, Nightflyers is now certain to be canceled.

Van Helsing: With the collapse of Nightflyers' ratings, I'm upgrading Van Helsing to a "likely renewal". Given current Syfy ratings, Van Helsing is in the middle of the pack. It's not doing much worse than Wynonna Earp did, and it definitely does better than what the penultimate season of Killjoys did. If Killjoys was renewed for a final season before getting a 0.08, than Van Helsing likely clears that threshold.
