Friday TV Ratings 9/16/22: Dynasty Stays Low for Series Finale, Dateline Premieres Weaker, CBS Fall Preview Low (UPDATED)

It was another Friday night won by WWE Smackdown (0.50), even as the wrestling series shed seven hundredths. With the summer season now over, it was the final week in which Smackdown is not expected to face any major competition from the Big Three networks, as Shark Tank and SWAT will premiere in the coming weeks. Speaking of Shark Tank, it aired a repeat (0.32) that was slightly higher than the finale of The Con that aired in its time slot the week prior. The 9 PM 20/20 broadcast (0.24) trailed last week's Queen Elizabeth II-centered airing by a noticeable amount. NBC's Capital One College Bowl (0.24) was about steady in its second week, down only a single hundredth from the 9 PM airing last week and stable with the season premiere. The season premiere of Dateline NBC (0.31) was below its 2021-22 season average, but still took third for the night. CBS continued its HGTV-esque series Secret Celebrity Renovation (0.21), and saw a decline after last week's uptick. Their Fall Preview (0.18) aired at 9 PM and drew little interest, with a Young Sheldon encore (0.15) rating even lower. The night wrapped up with a repeat of Blue Bloods (0.19) that rated higher than last week's airings. On The CW, they said farewell to perennial ratings under-performer Dynasty (0.02) after what somehow was a five-season run, steady with last week's paltry series low. At 8, Killer Camp (0.04) doubled its rating from last week and yet still managed to remain a rounded 0.0.

Finals Update: The CBS Fall Preview (+0.1) adjusted up. Killer Camp (-0.1) and Dynasty (-0.) adjusted down.

Friday TV Ratings 8/12/22: Secret Celebrity Renovation Slips, WWE SmackDown Leads, 20/20 Takes Second (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: CBS's 'Secret Celebrity Renovation' (0.18, -0.05) dropped by five-hundredths and was beaten out by the reruns of 'Blue Bloods' (0.19/0.24) that followed. Fox wrestling staple 'WWE Smackdown' (0.44, -0.05) also lost five-hundredths but found itself atop the Friday night roster yet again. ABC's '20/20' repeat (0.35) took second place, growing slightly from the 'Shark Tank' encore (0.33) that preceded it. NBC had middling reruns of 'America's Got Talent' (0.26) and 'Dateline' (0.24). The CW's 'Dynasty' (0.02, -0.02) declined by two-hundredths and was bested by the 'Killer Camp' repeat (0.03) that led into it.

Finals Update: 'WWE SmackDown' (-0.1) and 'Secret Celebrity Renovation' (-0.1) adjusted down, as did repeats of 'Shark Tank' (-0.1), '20/20' (-0.1), 'Dateline NBC' (-0.1) and 'Blue Bloods' (-0.1 each).

Friday TV Ratings 8/5/22: The Fatal Flaw Dips on Finale Night, WWE SmackDown Remains on Top, Dynasty Stays Low After Break (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'The Fatal Flaw' (0.28, -0.03) shed three-hundredths for its season finale and was followed by a slightly stronger '20/20' rerun (0.31). 'Secret Celebrity Renovation' (0.23, -0.02) inched down from its premiere on CBS and led into more repeats of 'Blue Bloods' (0.21/0.24). NBC had mediocre encores of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.23) and 'Dateline' (0.21). 'WWE Smackdown' (0.49, -0.03) dropped by three-hundredths on Fox but led the night as it often does. The CW's 'Dynasty' (0.04, -0.01) lost a hundredth for its first episode since early July. The 'Killer Camp' repeat (0.04) that preceded it posted the same rating.

Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary ratings.

Friday TV Ratings 7/8/22: Dynasty Ticks Up, Declining WWE SmackDown Leads (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: With the help of a much larger 'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' rerun (0.11), The CW's 'Dynasty' (0.05, +0.02) grew by two-hundredths on a week-to-week basis. Though it retained less than half of its lead-in, this serves as the drama's highest rating since March. 'WWE Smackdown' (0.47, -0.02) lost two-hundredths on Fox but was easily the night's top performer in the 18-49 demographic. ABC's rerun of 'Shark Tank' (0.33) dropped from last week while the '20/20' encore (0.34) climbed a tiny bit. CBS chugged along with repeats of 'SWAT' (0.28), 'Magnum PI' (0.24), and 'Blue Bloods' (0.22). NBC was up across the board with reruns of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.25) and 'Dateline' (0.29).

Finals Update: 'WWE SmackDown' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Friday TV Ratings 7/1/22: Down WWE SmackDown Leads the Night, Shark Tank Repeat Strong, Dynasty Stays Invisible (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.49, -0.04) dropped by four-hundredths when compared to last week but was able to lead the night nonetheless. ABC's reruns of 'Shark Tank' (0.39) and '20/20' (0.32) were a huge step-down from last week's 'Stanley Cup' broadcast (1.49) but both beat out every non-'Smackdown' telecast. CBS was roughly on-par with last week with its repeats of 'SWAT' (0.19), 'Magnum PI' (0.20), and 'Blue Bloods' (0.23). NBC's encores of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.20) and 'Dateline' (0.19) trailed their week-ago counterparts (0.26/0.31). Though the 'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' rerun (0.04) that led into it was at half the size of the week prior, The CW's 'Dynasty' (0.03, 0.00) tied the June 24th episode.

Finals Update: 'WWE SmackDown' (+0.1) and the repeat of 'Shark Tank' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Friday TV Ratings 6/24/22: Daytime Emmys Low, Stanley Cup Rises for Game 5, WWE Smackdown Slips (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: The '49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards' (0.21) lost two-hundredths when compared to the 48th ceremony (0.23) and did little to boost CBS's Friday night lineup. Earlier in the night, 'Come Dance With Me' (0.20, +0.02) grew by two-hundredths for its season finale. Game 5 of the '2022 Stanley Cup Finals' (1.49, +0.18) impressed on ABC and rose by nearly two-tenths from the previous one. Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.53, -0.04) declined by four-hundredths but was still the strongest broadcast outside of the 'Stanley Cup'. NBC got 0.3s from reruns of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.26) and 'Dateline NBC' (0.31). The CW's 'Dynasty' (0.03, -0.01) shed a hundredth and trailed the encore of 'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' (0.08) that led into it.

Finals Update: '2022 Stanley Cup Game 5' (+0.7) and the repeat of 'American Ninja Warrior' (+0.1) adjusted up. 'Dynasty' (-0.1) adjusted down.

Friday TV Ratings 6/3/22: WWE SmackDown Leads Quiet Night, Charmed and Dynasty Post Small Gains (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Fox's 'WWE SmackDown' (0.47, +0.04) rose by four-hundredths and reigned victorious on a very quiet Friday evening. ABC's rerun of 'Shark Tank' (0.38) and '20/20' (0.46) were close behind but neither could beat out the wrestling program. Though it was starting to look a little healthier in the past two weeks, CBS's 'Come Dance With Me' (0.18, -0.07) plunged to a new series low in the 8PM timeslot. Repeats of 'Magnum PI' (0.17) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.21) filled out the rest of CBS's evening. NBC had a modest rerun of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.21) and a passable 'Dateline' (0.28). On the CW, 'Charmed' (0.07, +0.02) and 'Dynasty' (0.04, +0.01) rose ever so slightly.

Finals Update: 'WWE SmackDown' (+0.1) and repeats of '20/20' (+0.1) and 'Shark Tank' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Friday TV Ratings 5/27/22: The Blacklist Inches Up for Finale, WWE SmackDown Leads (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: NBC drama 'The Blacklist' (0.24, +0.01) wrapped up its ninth season with a predictably meager rating but at least managed to scrape together an extra hundredth for said season finale. The 'Dateline' rerun (0.29) that came after 'Blacklist' ended up growing from it by five-hundredths. ABC's 'Together As One' Soul of a Nation special about Asian-Americans (0.27) was unremarkable in the 8PM hour and lost out to the '20/20' encore (0.28) that followed it. 'Come Dance With Me' (0.25, -0.01) shed a single hundredth on CBS and led into weakened repeats of 'Magnum PI' (0.19) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.21). On Fox, 'WWE Smackdown' (0.43, -0.02) was two-hundredths lower than last week but easily topped the night. The CW's 'Charmed' (0.05, -0.01) dropped by a hundredth as 'Dynasty' (0.03) tied its week-ago broadcast.

Finals Update: 'Together As One' (+0.1) and repeats of 'Dateline NBC' (+0.1) and '20/20' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Friday TV Ratings 5/20/22: Shark Tank Up for Finale, The Blacklist and WWE SmackDown Also Rise, 20/20 Steady (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.48, +0.03) swam to the top of the Friday night roster as it often does and rose by three-hundredths for its season finale. '20/20' (0.35) was unable to join 'Tank' at the top but held steady with its week-ago broadcast. NBC's 'The Blacklist' (0.23, +0.01) and 'Dateline' (0.34, +0.03) were also on the rise, as was CBS's 'Come Dance With Me' (0.26, +0.05). 'Dance' climbed to its highest rating since late April and led into reruns of 'Magnum PI' (0.20) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.25). Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.45, +0.05) grew by five-hundredths but still settled for the #2 spot of the night. 'Charmed' (0.06, -0.01) and 'Dynasty' (0.03, -0.01) lost a hundredth apiece on the CW.

Finals Update: 'Shark Tank' (+0.1) and 'Come Dance With Me' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Friday TV Ratings 5/13/22: Charmed and Dynasty Inch Up Following Cancellations, Shark Tank and The Blacklist Tick Down (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.45, -0.01) shed a hundredth but still managed to be the highest-rated program of the night. At 9, '20/20' (0.35, +0.05) picked up five-hundredths. After tying with 'Tank' for the #1 spot last week, 'WWE Smackdown' (0.40, -0.06) dropped by six-hundredths on Fox and settled for second. CBS's struggling series 'Come Dance with Me' (0.21, +0.02) rose by two-hundredths and was followed by encores of 'Magnum PI' (0.21) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.26). 'The Blacklist' (0.22, -0.04) and 'Dateline' (0.31, -0.01) slipped on NBC.

Finals Update: The repeat of 'Blue Bloods' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Dynasty Canceled by The CW

Dynasty has fought its last catfight. The soap opera has been canceled by The CW after five seasons. The news comes after. a historically low-rated season in which Dynasty averaged just 0.04 in the 18-49 demo, making it the lowest-rated scripted series on broadcast television. Its Netflix deal was able to get it this far, but was unable to save it as The CW prepares for a sale. Elizabeth Gillies, Robert Christopher Riley, Sam Adegoke, Grant Show, Daniella Alonso, and Elaine Hendrix starred in the series. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.

Friday TV Ratings 5/6/22: Magnum PI and Blue Bloods Grow for Finales, Dateline and Shark Tank Sink (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Even though reality offering 'Come Dance with Me' (0.19, -0.06) crashed to a new series low, CBS dramas 'Magnum PI' (0.34, +0.03) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.44, +0.06) both perked up for their respective season finales. ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.46, -0.07) dropped by seven-hundredths from the episode that aired four days prior, and '20/20' (0.30, -0.04) fell by four-hundredths from what it posted for its previous original. Ratings Analysis: The '2022 NFL Draft' (0.45, -0.41) plummeted for its second night on ABC, losing close to half of what it posted on Thursday evening (0.86). The 'Draft' fell so far that it was merely able to tie for the top spot of the night with NBC's 'Dateline' (0.45, -0.01). 'Dateline' itself nearly doubled a sinking edition of 'The Blacklist' (0.23, -0.06) that aired before it. CBS also had nothing but declines as 'Come Dance with Me' (0.25, -0.02), 'Magnum PI' (0.31, -0.09), and 'Blue Bloods' (0.38, -0.03) all lost some ground. Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.38, -0.09) fell by nearly a full tenth. 'Charmed' (0.06) was stable on the CW while 'Dynasty' (0.04, +0.01) was the only show of the night to actually rise.

Finals Update: 'Blue Bloods' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Friday TV Ratings 4/15/22: Come Dance With Me Bombs in Premiere, The Blacklist Rises, Shark Tank Leads the Night (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: 'WWE Smackdown' (0.48, -0.12) suffered quite a blow on Fox and narrowly lost out to a steady edition of ABC's 'Shark Tank' (0.49). As a result, 'Shark Tank' topped the night and bested 'Smackdown' for the first time since January. At 9, the '20/20' rerun (0.31) was just three-hundredths below its week-ago original. NBC's 'The Blacklist' (0.29, +0.04) and 'Dateline' (0.47, +0.07) rose by four and seven-hundredths respectively. On CBS, reality series 'Come Dance With Me' (0.20) had very few in attendance for its series premiere and failed to outpace any offerings on ABC, NBC, or Fox. A rerun of 'Blue Bloods' (0.19) that followed was only a hundredth lower than 'Dance'. 'Charmed' (0.06) held flat on the CW as 'Dynasty' (0.03, -0.01) dropped by a hundredth.

Finals Update: 'Shark Tank' (+0.1) and 'WWE SmackDown' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Ratings Analysis: CBS's 'Undercover Boss' (0.31, +0.02) picked up two-hundredths for its season finale but remained a rather uncompetitive offering. Dramas 'Magnum PI' (0.40, +0.02) and 'Blue Bloods' (0.41, +0.01) inched up alongside 'Boss' at 9 and 10 respectively. On NBC, 'The Blacklist' (0.25, +0.03) and 'Dateline' (0.40, +0.07) enjoyed larger gains than the CBS programs. 'Shark Tank' (0.49, -0.01) and '20/20' (0.34, -0.02) inched down on ABC. 'Charmed' (0.06, -0.01) shed a hundredth as 'Dynasty' (0.04, +0.02) grew by two-hundredths on the CW.

Finals Update: 'WWE SmackDown' (+0.1) and 'Shark Tank' (+0.1) adjusted up.
