CW Renew Cancel Part 3: All American Is the Last Survivor of a Bygone CW Era. Can It Survive? + CW Renew/Cancel March Madness Championship
We have another new CW Renew/Cancel this week, as the focus shifts to the network's longest-running original scripted series, as well as an unscripted show that may be on the way out. Keep reading for my predictions on all of the network's shows, plus the championship match in the CW Renew/Cancel March Madness!
CW Renew/Cancel Part 1: All American’s Ratings Are All Right, but the End Is Nigh
Welcome to the all-new CW Renew/Cancel! There has been massive shakeups at the network since our last column in May of 2023, with the new owners completely reshaping what the CW is what what it airs. The network is now home to a heavily-unscripted slate, with nearly all of its scripted programs being acquired programs from Canada and the UK. However, some originals do remain, as do several co-productions. For this renew/cancel, we're only predicting CW originals like All American and Walker, as well as international shows that CW has a hand in producing, like Wild Cards and Son of a Critch. These are shows that, while other networks hold much of the power for determining renewals, CW has at least some stake in them and will have a sway in the decisions. This means fully acquired shows, like Children Ruin Everything, Family Law, and The Conners will not appear in this chart, though you can still get predictions for The Conners in our ABC Renew/Cancel.
2022-23 The CW Renew/Cancel Wrap-Up: Final Thoughts on Superman & Lois, Gotham Knights, The Winchesters & More as Nexstar Moves in a New Direction
With last week's decisions on All American: Homecoming, Gotham Knights, and Superman & Lois, the CW has finally decided the fates of all of their produced scripted originals, over a month after decision would traditionally be finalized. It was a season of many broken traditions, particularly for The CW, which will see very few of their existing shows making returns next year. Keep reading for my final wrap-up of one of the most bizarre seasons of television any network has ever experienced.
The CW Renew/Cancel Part 2: Kung Fu Will Probably Get Knocked Out
The CW Renew/Cancel Part 1: The Winchesters Looks Strong, Walker: Independence Looks Weak - Does the CW Care?
Last season, The CW shocked the TV world by doing something unprecedented: they actually canceled shows. And not just a few, either. The network axed half of their lineup, including some shows that didn't even rate all that poorly. So this season will be a challenge, predictions-wise, as I attempt to guess how they will move forward in this new, Nexstar-owned age. Keep reading for my initial predictions for the entirety of their fall slate.
The CW Renews Seven Series, Including The Flash, All American, Riverdale, Nancy Drew and Superman & Lois

The CW has once again renewed a collection of series well before the Upfronts, but they're leaving more shows up in the air this year than usual. Seven series - including top-rated series All American, Superman & Lois and The Flash, as well as Walker, Nancy Drew, Kung Fu and Riverdale - have secured renewals for next season. That leaves numerous shows with fates still to be determined, including Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, Charmed, Dynasty, All American: Homecoming, Naomi, 4400, Legacies and In the Dark. Most of these shows rate towards the bottom of the CW pack, with only Homecoming and Naomi matching or exceeding the 0.10 mark. The CW's smaller early mass renewal comes amid talks of a sale which may lead to more cancellations than usual for a network that has become known in recent years for renewing nearly all of its shows. If the network is sold, its new owner is likely to have a say in which - if any - of these series will return next season. All seven renewals are correct predictions for The TV Ratings Guide.
