Thursday TV Ratings 12/2/21: Annie Live! Solid for NBC, Alec Baldwin Interview Performs Modestly, Young Sheldon and Ghosts Dip, Great Christmas Light Fight Ends on a Low (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Though the incident made worldwide headlines at the time, ABC's unscripted Alec Baldwin interview (0.45) only came in at a modest 4th place in the 8pm timeslot. Whether as a result of the tepid lead-in or not, 'The Great Christmas Light Fight' (0.26, -0.11) dropped by more than a full tenth for its finale. NBC had far more to write home about as the musical 'Annie Live!' (0.92) more than doubled the Baldwin interview and was the top non-sports broadcast of the evening. On the football front, Fox's 'Cowboys v. Saints' NFL game (4.77) was more than a full point above the one from two weeks prior (3.72). Though CBS's 'Ghosts' (0.55) matched its last outing, comedies 'Young Sheldon' (0.64, -0.09), 'United States of Al' (0.46, -0.03), and 'B Positive' (0.41, -0.04) all forfeited a few hundredths. 'Bull' (0.34, +0.03) actually managed to rise by three-hundredths in the 10pm hour. The CW's 'Walker' (0.12, +0.02) picked up two-hundredths while 'Legacies' (0.08, -0.01) gave back a hundredth.

Sunday TV Ratings 8/15/21: Love Island Finale and Celebrity Family Feud Steady, Big Brother Leads (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: Even though it was a tenth behind last week's preliminary rating, CBS's 'Big Brother' (0.9) led the pack as expected. At 9, the season finale of 'Love Island' (0.4) was even with the rating it posted seven days ago. A repeat of '60 Minutes' (0.4) was the top program in the 7pm hour. ABC had a rerun of 'AFV' at 7 (0.3) and a steady 'Celebrity Family Feud' (0.5) at 8, but the rest of the originals were preempted due to an 'Afghanistan' special (0.4) taking over the 9pm hour at the last minute. Encores of 'The Chase' (0.3) and 'The Conners' (0.2) occupied the 9:30-11pm block. NBC had tepid reruns of 'Family Game Fight!' (0.2) and 'America's Got Talent' (0.3/0.2). Fox got 0.2s out of reruns of 'LEGO Masters', 'Simpsons', and 'Great North'. 'Bob's Burgers' (0.3) and 'Family Guy' (0.3) performed a bit better from 9-10. The CW was completely stable with 'Legends of Tomorrow' (0.1), the premiere of 'Wellington Paranormal' (0.0), and 'Dead Pixels' (0.0). 

Finals Update: 'Big Brother' (+0.1), 'Celebrity Family Feud' (+0.1), and repeats of 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (+0.1), '60 Minutes' (+0.1), and 'America's Got Talent' at 10 PM (+0.1) adjusted up.

Sunday TV Ratings 8/23/20: Biden/Harris Interview Does Solidly, Big Brother Leads (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: ABC swapped out its usual 'Celebrity Family Feud' repeat for an exclusive interview with presidential candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris (0.7). It performed a good bit higher than what the DNC was pulling on ABC last week but also lost two-tenths from an NBA-inflated 'AFV' repeat (0.9). The interview's numbers were not earth-shattering but still very respectable. Later in the night came repeats of 'Press Your Luck' (0.4) and 'Match Game' (0.4), both dropping significantly from Biden.

Even with a stronger alphabet network, a steady 'Big Brother' (1.0) topped the networks once more on CBS. It led out of a decently-rated '60 Minutes' repeat (0.5) and led into dismal encores of 'NCIS: LA' (0.3) and 'NCIS: NO' (0.3). 

'Cannonball' (0.4) remained unchanged from last week on NBC but the 'NHL Playoffs' game (0.5) gained a tenth after it. Fox had 0.2s across the board for 7pm-9:30pm comedy repeats with 'Family Guy' (0.3) unsurprisingly rising above the rest at the end of the block. The CW's 'Fridge Wars' (0.1) held even while a repeat of 'Supernatural' (0.1) gained a tenth after last week's disastrous 0.0 rating.

Finals Update: Repeats of Last Man Standing (-0.1), Duncanville (-0.1), NCIS: Los Angeles (-0.1), and Family Guy (-0.1) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 6/21/20: John Bolton Interview Tops Night, John Legend Special and United We Sing Low (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: President Trump's former National Security Advisor John Bolton sat down for an interview with ABC's Martha Raddatz (0.7) and pretty easily beat out the rest of the competition on broadcast. The 9pm Bolton interview was a notch above week-ago 'Press Your Luck' (0.66) and within striking distance of last week's original 'Celebrity Family Feud' (0.8). Earlier in the night at 8, a John Legend Father's Day special (0.4) failed to gain much traction. Legend lost a tenth from a 7pm 'Celebrity Family Feud' repeat (0.5) and garnered half the audience of last week's timeslot occupant. A 'Match Game' encore (0.4) capped the night at 10.

CBS had a strong showing of '60 Minutes' (0.6), down a tenth from last week, but a Grammy special after it (0.3) completely tanked. The 10pm 'NCIS: New Orleans' encore (0.2) managed to fall even lower than that. NBC's 'Hollywood Game Night' (0.3) gained a tenth and led into 'Titan Games' (0.3) and 'AGT' (0.4) repeats. Fox mostly had 0.2s for their comedy repeats with only the 7:30 'Duncanville' (0.1) and 9:30 'Family Guy' (0.3) straying away from that number. The CW had another batch of 'Stargirl' (0.1) and 'Supergirl' (0.1) repeats.

Finals Update: Hollywood Game Night (-0.1), United We Sing (-0.1) and repeats of Celebrity Family Feud (-0.1), Stargirl (-0.1) and Supergirl (-0.1) adjusted down.
