Marshals Renewed for Season Two

It's aired just two episodes, but that's all CBS needed to know they wanted more Marshals. The Yellowstone spinoff has already been renewed for a second season, just a week and a half after its splashy debut, which saw the series debut to the highest rating for a scripted series this season without NFL assistance, with a 0.67 in the key 18-49 demo and 9.5 million viewers - its most-watched series premiere since Young Sheldon. In multiplatform viewing, the show's premiere drew over twenty million viewers, marking CBS's best launch in recent years in this metric as well. The show's success comes as little surprise, as the Yellowstone franchise has been a huge money-maker for Paramount over the years, with the parent series ranking among TV's highest-rated scripted series during the last few seasons of its run, despite airing on cable. Luke Grimes reprised his Yellowstone role as Kayce Dutton, with Gil Birmingham, Brecken Merrill, and Mo Brings Plenty also joining him on the new series, and Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, and Ash Santos among new additions. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.

Sunday TV Ratings 12/15/24: An Evening with Dua Lipa Weak, Yellowstone Sees Small Rise for Series Finale, Following Yonder Star Low on Hallmark [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: An Evening with Dua Lipa (0.32) disappointed on CBS, retaining less than a third of the NFL-boosted 60 Minutes (1.05, +0.70) that led into it. Fox had less NFL help than last week, so Universal Basic Guys (0.56, -0.31) took a hit, but The Simpsons (0.40, -0.03) was barely down at all at 8:30. In the 9 p.m. hour, Bob's Burgers (0.33, +0.05) and Krapopolis (0.20, +0.04) managed to gain a few ticks. On ABC, The Sound of Music (0.22) was a tenth below its year-ago showing (0.32). NBC's Packers v. Seahawks NFL game (4.14) was several notches behind last week's game (4.67). Repeats of Christmas with the Chosen: Holy Night (0.02) and The Conners (0.02/0.03) aired on the CW. Key: (R) = repeat.

Sunday TV Ratings 12/1/24: The Finnish Line and The Christmas Quest Solid on Hallmark, Yellowstone and The Equalizer Tick Up, Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular OK [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: There was ample NFL help on CBS, so 60 Minutes (1.01, +0.58) was up by several tenths. Dramas Tracker (0.53, +0.07) and The Equalizer (0.33, +0.05) were also up, albeit not nearly as much. America's Funniest Home Videos (0.26, +0.01) ticked up on ABC and led into The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular (0.25). NBC's 49ers/Bills NFL game (5.14) was the top-rated program of the night. Fox's animation lineup (0.16/0.20/0.22/0.14/0.11/0.11) was in repeat mode. Operation Mistletoe (0.03) aired on the CW. Key: (R) = repeat.

Sunday TV Ratings 11/24/24: Yellowstone Rises Again, Tracker and The Equalizer Drop, To Have and To Holiday Solid on Hallmark [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: There was no NFL help on CBS, so 60 Minutes (0.43, -0.86), Tracker (0.46, -0.16), and The Equalizer (0.28, -0.07) all slipped. Fox had NFL Overrun (5.85) and The OT (2.45), so The Simpsons (0.67, +0.45), Universal Basic Guys (0.39, +0.17), Bob's Burgers (0.38, +0.13), and Krapopolis (0.25, +0.08) all rose. ABC aired two America's Funniest Home Videos originals (0.26/0.25) and followed that up with the Disney film Moana (0.16). NBC's Eagles v. Rams NFL game (4.48) was almost three-tenths higher than the week-ago game. Shrek 2 (0.08) performed well by CW standards. Key: (R) = repeat.

Sunday TV Ratings 11/17/24: Dune: Prophecy Bombs, Yellowstone Rises, The Equalizer Hits Season High [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: The NFL Overrun (7.36) grew in size on CBS, so 60 Minutes (1.29, +0.23) gained two-tenths, but Tracker (0.62, -0.01) ticked down. In the 10 p.m. hour, The Equalizer (0.35, +0.04) set a new season high. America's Funniest Home Videos (0.28, -0.04) slipped on ABC, but Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (0.23) was a clear improvement over the week-ago Mrs. Doubtfire (0.17). On NBC, the Bengals/Chargers NFL game (4.19) was three-tenths below last week's Lions/Texans game (4.52). Fox aired repeats of The Simpsons (0.22), Universal Basic Guys (0.21), Bob's Burgers (0.17), and Krapopolis (0.13). The CW aired the film The Holiday (0.06). Key: (R) = repeat.

Sunday TV Ratings 11/10/24: Yellowstone Returns Down, Tracker Soars to Series High, The Penguin Ends on a High [+ Analysis]

Ratings Analysis: NFL-inflated episodes of 60 Minutes (1.06, +0.36) and Tracker (0.63, +0.16) excelled on CBS, but Yellowstone (0.54) was a notch below its lead-in in its return to the network. On Fox, The Simpsons (0.22, -0.71) plummeted, and Universal Basic Guys (0.22, -0.20) took a hit, but Bob's Burgers (0.25, -0.05) and Krapopolis (0.17, -0.04) were barely down at all from last week's football-boosted installments. America's Funniest Home Videos (0.32, +0.04) grew on ABC, but 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire (0.17) was still below last week's Coco (0.18). On NBC, the Lions/Texans NFL game (4.52) dropped from the week-ago Colts/Vikings game (5.28). The Family Man (0.06) was passable by CW standards. Key: (R) = repeat.

Monday TV Ratings 1/29/24: The Irrational Returns Slightly Down, America’s Most Wanted Also Slips, The Bachelor Rises (UPDATED w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: NBC drama The Irrational (0.27, -0.01) was down by just a hundredth in its return from a break that lasted nearly three months and retained a healthy portion of its America's Got Talent: Fantasy League lead-in (0.41, +0.01). On ABC, The Bachelor (0.55, +0.02) built on last week's soft-ish premiere, but the 20/20-based documentary series Bad Romance (0.19, -0.03) got even weaker in week 2. Fox's America's Most Wanted (0.29, -0.01) and TMZ Investigates (0.20, -0.01) each lost a hundredth. Ride (0.06, 0.00) was stable on the CW and led into another rerun of Wild Cards (0.05). CBS re-ran The Neighborhood (0.29), Bob Hearts Abishola (0.24), and Yellowstone (0.19/0.16).

Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary rounded ratings.

Sunday TV Ratings 1/28/24: Next-Level Chef Down from Previous Post-NFC Championship Showing, Lions/49ers Game Up from 2023 Primetime NFL Championship (UPDATED w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: The Lions may have lost to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game, but Fox got an enormous 15.18 rating out of it, enough so that they were able to boost the season three premiere of Next Level Chef (2.15) past the 2.0 barrier in the Adults 18-49 demographic. CBS had an NFL-boosted episode of 60 Minutes (0.74, +0.47) and three helpings of Yellowstone (0.36/0.29/0.29). ABC's showing of The Parent Trap (0.18) was a hundredth above last week's Soul (0.17). The film was sandwiched in-between reruns of AFV (0.18) and Abbott Elementary (0.13). The CW had a high-profile film of their own in the form of Robin William's Jumanji (0.06) and washed that down with an encore of The Conners (0.04). NBC aired repeats of America's Got Talent: Fantasy League (0.09) and Dateline (0.16).

Finals Update: NFC Championship (+4.0) and the 8 PM episode of Yellowstone (+0.1) adjusted up. Next-Level Chef (-0.1) adjusted down.

Monday TV Ratings 1/22/24: The Bachelor Returns with Lowest Premiere Yet, America’s Most Wanted OK, The Traitors Preview Low (UPDATED w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's The Bachelor (0.53) was a little weaker than usual in its return, declining about 18% from its January 2023 premiere (0.65) in the Adults 18-49 demographic. Regardless, even a worn-out Bachelor was strong enough to top all other competitors in the key demo. In the 10 p.m. time slot, a special edition of 20/20 (0.22) barely retained more than 40% of its lead-in. On NBC, America's Got Talent: Fantasy League (0.40, +0.09) was completely unfazed by the return of The Bachelor and instead soared to a new series high. Peacock drama The Traitors (0.17) made its NBC debut right after Fantasy League, though few tuned in to witness it. America's Most Wanted (0.30) got off to a passable start on Fox, but TMZ Investigates (0.21) lagged behind it in the 9 p.m. hour. CBS went with reruns of The Neighborhood (0.35), Bob Hearts Abishola (0.28), and Yellowstone (0.21/0.15). The CW began airing repeats of canceled Hallmark series Ride (0.06) and threw in another Wild Cards encore (0.04).

Finals Update: All shows held their preliminary rounded ratings.

Sunday TV Ratings 1/14/24: Critics Choice Awards Rises from 2023, We Are Family Squanders Huge NFL Lead-in (UPDATED w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: The 29th Annual Critics' Choice Awards (0.15) posted a rating that was a bit better than the 28th ceremony (0.10) and made the CW slightly more competitive than usual. The Awards also cleared the one-million mark in total viewership, a touch above 2023's gala. Over on Fox, game show We Are Family (1.17, +0.96) grew by close to a full ratings point in its post-NFL showing, but its retention of football was even worse than last week's Grimsburg debut. On NBC, the Rams v. Lions game posted a monstrous 8.15 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic and easily topped the night. The Peacock network also stuck a Deal or No Deal Island encore (0.38) in the 7 p.m. hour that beat out CBS's 60 Minutes (0.27) head-on. After that came more Yellowstone (0.18/0.16/0.16). America's Funniest Home Videos (0.27, -0.08) slipped on ABC and was bested by an 8 o'clock repeat of itself (0.30). In the 9 p.m. hour, a broadcast of the 1994 animated classic The Lion King (0.18) was an improvement over the week-ago Solo (0.13) but lost a big chunk of its Home Videos lead-in.

Finals Update: NFL: Rams v. Lions (+1.9) and NFL: Packers v. Cowboys (+3.1) adjusted up. We Are Family (-0.2), Football Night in America (-1.5), and the repeat of Deal or No Deal Island (-1.1) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 12/3/23: The Santa Clause Modest for ABC, Yellowstone Hits New Low, Krapopolis Hits Series High (UPDATED w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: Tim Allen returned to ABC for one night only as the alphabet network decided to air his 1994 Christmas film The Santa Clause (0.28). This broadcast was modest at best and only a touch higher than the episode of AFV (0.27, -0.08) that led into it. In the 10 p.m. hour, The Great Christmas Light Fight (0.24, +0.03) built on last week's abysmal premiere. CBS had no real NFL boost, so 60 Minutes (0.44, -0.58) and Yellowstone (0.22/0.18) collapsed. Fox gave Krapopolis (1.20, +1.00) another stint in the 8 p.m. time slot, using the power of football to catapult the animated comedy to a new series high. The Simpsons (0.59, +0.28) retained less than half of its Krap lead-in at 8:30 but was up from its last episode that aired without NFL help. Cartoon staples Bob's Burgers (0.40, +0.17) and Family Guy (0.37, +0.14) also improved in the 9 p.m. hour. The Chiefs v. Packers NFL game (5.72) was well above the week-ago Ravens v. Chargers (4.54) on NBC. The Chosen (0.02, -0.02) slipped on the CW.

Finals Update: NFL: Chiefs v. Packers (+1.0), NFL Overrun (+2.0), The OT (+0.9), Krapopolis (+0.3), and The Simpsons (+0.1) adjusted up. 60 Minutes (-0.1) and Football Night in America (-0.8) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 11/26/23: The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration Below 2022, Family Guy Drops to New Low (UPDATED w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's broadcast of The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration (0.29) was a touch below last year (0.35) in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The Great Christmas Light Fight (0.21) disappointed at 10 o'clock, while the 7 p.m. America's Funniest Home Videos (0.35, -0.01) dipped. Over on Fox, Bob's Burgers (0.23, -0.01) and Family Guy (0.23, -0.05) were the only original offerings. Bob's tied its previously-set low, but Family Guy dropped to a new series low. The Simpsons (0.22) and Krapopolis (0.16) were in repeat-mode. CBS's 60 Minutes (1.02, +0.22) took advantage of more NFL help, but Yellowstone (0.31/0.23) remained abysmal. The Ravens v. Chargers football game posted a 4.54 rating on NBC. The Chosen (0.04, -0.01) shed a hundredth on the CW.

Finals Update: NFL Overrun (+1.9) and NFL: Ravens v. Chargers (+1.0) adjusted up. Football Night in America (-0.8), 60 Minutes (-1.1), Yellowstone at 9:30 PM (-0.2), and the repeat of LEGO Masters (-0.1) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 11/19/23: Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons and Krapopolis Slide, Sunday Night Football Rises, Raya and the Last Dragon Low on ABC (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: NFL help disappeared on the Fox network, meaning The Simpsons (0.31, -0.24), Krapopolis (0.20, -0.70), and Bob's Burgers (0.24, -0.23) were all much lower than they were last Sunday. The biggest loser here was Krapopolis since it had The OT as its direct lead-in on the 12th but was actually down from the 0.24 rating it posted on its last non-NFL night. Family Guy (0.28, -0.12) had a softer decline when compared to the other three since the football inflation barely hits the 9:30 p.m. slot to begin with. ABC also had animation in the form of 2021 film Raya and the Last Dragon (0.24). Raya fell significantly from the repeat of AFV (0.36) that led into it but was a notch above the week-ago Star Wars (0.20). On CBS, a direct NFL lead-in helped 60 Minutes (0.80, +0.20) grow by two-tenths, but it did nothing to boost Yellowstone (0.28/0.24). The "Vikings v. Broncos" football game (4.78) was nearly six-tenths higher than last week's "Jets v. Raiders" match-up (4.20) on NBC. The Chosen (0.05, +0.01) gained a hundredth on the CW.

Finals Update: NFL Overrun (+2.0) and the "Vikings v. Broncos" NFL game (+1.1) adjusted up. 60 Minutes (-0.5) and Football Night in America (-0.7) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 11/12/23: Lawmen: Bass Reeves Preview Weak, Krapopolis Struggles in Post-NFL Slot, Sunday Night Football Drops (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: The broadcast debut of Lawmen: Bass Reeves (0.22/0.18) did not impress on CBS and fell short of the episode of Yellowstone (0.32) that led into it. In the 7 p.m. time slot, 60 Minutes (0.60, +0.11) picked up a full tenth and some change. That was enough to put Minutes several notches above ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos (0.36, -0.05). The latter was down by half a tenth and led into the movie of the week, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (0.20). Star Wars was weaker than the week-ago Coco (0.27) and was followed by a rerun of AFV (0.11). Over on Fox, NFL Overrun (5.29) and The OT (2.45) were noticeably lower than last week but still helped Krapopolis (0.90, +0.27) soar for its second appearance in the 8 p.m. time slot. The Simpsons (0.55, -0.93) was demoted to the 8:30 p.m. slot for one night and found itself at a much lower level than it usually is on a football-boosted evening. This is definitely a bit higher than what Simpsons manages on a non-NFL night, but it clearly needs the direct OT boost to break the 1.0 barrier. In the 9 p.m. hour, Bob's Burgers (0.47, -0.06) and Family Guy (0.40, -0.08) came down a bit after posting season highs last week. The "Jets v. Raiders" NFL game posted a 4.20 rating on NBC, placing it seven tenths below the "Bills v. Bengals" game (4.89) from last week. The Chosen (0.04, -0.01) lost a hundredth on the CW.

Finals Update: America's Funniest Home Videos (+0.1), "NFL: Jets v. Raiders" (+1.1), NFL Overrun (+2.4), The OT (+0.2), and Krapopolis (+0.2) adjusted up. Football Night in America (-0.5) and 60 Minutes (-0.1) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 11/5/23: The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy Easily Hit Season Highs, Big Brother Drops, The Chosen Rises (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: For just the second time this season, the entire Fox cartoon lineup received direct assistance from NFL Overrun (6.72) and The OT (3.87). This helped The Simpsons (1.48, +1.17) explode to its highest rating of the season for the latest installment of its "Treehouse of Horror" anthology series. Unfortunately, the boost faded away at 8:30 as Krapopolis (0.63, +0.39) lost almost 60% of its Simpsons lead-in. Bob's Burgers (0.53, +0.28) and Family Guy (0.48, +0.24) still set new season highs in the 9 p.m. hour, but the gains were evidently much smaller due to the sharp decline that took place when Krap came on. On CBS, 60 Minutes (0.49, -0.73) and Big Brother (0.37, -0.13) struggled without NFL help. Yellowstone (0.29/0.26) was also down significantly from the 0.53 rating it posted last week. America's Funniest Home Videos (0.41, +0.03) grew a bit on ABC, but a showing of Pixar film Coco (0.27) still fell short of last week's Hocus Pocus (0.35). A rerun of Generation Gap (0.14) retained just half of its lead-in in the 10 p.m. time slot. The "Bills v. Bengals" NFL game (4.89) outpaced the week-ago "Bears v. Chargers" (4.43) on NBC. Despite being surrounded by reruns of Sullivan's Crossing (0.03) and Whose Line Is It Anyway? (0.02), The Chosen (0.05, +0.01) picked up a hundredth on the CW.

Finals Update: "NFL Overrun" (+1.6), "The Simpsons" (+0.1), "NFL: Bills v. Bengals" (+1.1), "Coco" (+0.1), and "Big Brother" (+0.1) adjusted up. "The OT" (-0.3) and "Football Night in America" (-0.7) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 10/29/23: Hocus Pocus Solid but Below 2022 Airing, The Great Halloween Fright Fight, Big Brother and Krapopolis Tick Up, Sunday Night Football Drops (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's broadcast of Disney film 'Hocus Pocus' (0.35) was rather solid but a few notches below last year's showing (0.42). In the 10 p.m. time slot, 'The Great Halloween Fright Fight' (0.20, +0.06) recovered a bit after returning in dreadful fashion last week. 'AFV' (0.38, +0.03) was also up when compared to its last original in the 7 p.m. hour. Over on Fox, 'The Simpsons' (0.31, +0.01), Krapopolis' (0.24, +0.06), and 'Bob's Burgers' (0.25, +0.02) all ticked up, with 'Krap' growing the most out of the three. The 'Family Guy' repeat in the 9:30 p.m. time slot (0.24) was on-par with last week's original, while the 7 p.m. 'Simpsons' (0.32) and 'Bob's' (0.31) reruns beat the originals that aired after. CBS had a massive 'NFL Overrun' (6.46) that lifted '60 Minutes' (1.22, +0.19), 'Yellowstone' (0.53), and 'Big Brother' (0.50, +0.06) to higher levels. On NBC, the 'Bears v. Chargers' NFL game (4.43) could not hold a candle to last week's 'Dolphins v. Eagles' (5.86). The CW was up slightly with 'The Chosen' (0.04, +0.01) and had reruns of 'Sullivan's Crossing' (0.02) and 'Son of a Critch' (0.02) .

Finals Update: 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (+0.1), 'NFL Overrun' (+2.5), and 'NFL: Bears v. Chargers' (+1.0) adjusted up. 'Football Night in America' (-0.6), '60 Minutes' (-0.2), and the repeat of 'The Simpsons' (-0.2) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 10/22/23: The Great Halloween Fright Fight Weak for ABC, Krapopolis and Family Guy Hit New Lows, Big Brother Jumps from Last Sunday (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC foolishly placed 'The Great Halloween Fright Fight' (0.14) in the 10 p.m. time slot and got the type of performance that is to be expected when family programming airs at such a late hour. The alphabet network kept up with the Halloween theme by also airing 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' (0.29) and 'Toy Story of Terror!' (0.17). However, all three lost to the 7 p.m. rerun of 'AFV' (0.33). Fox had a rough night as well as 'The Simpsons' (0.30, -0.09), 'Bob's Burgers' (0.23, -0.07), and 'Family Guy' (0.24, -0.02) all slipped to new season lows. In the case of 'Family Guy', this rating also doubles as a new series low. 'Krapopolis' (0.18, -0.09) also crashed to a series low and stuck out like a sore thumb in the 8:30 p.m. time slot. In the 7 p.m. hour, a repeat of 'LEGO Masters' (0.33) clearly had some NFL help baked into it. On CBS, the 'NFL Overrun' (5.93) boosted '60 Minutes' (1.03, +0.51), 'Yellowstone' (0.37), and 'Big Brother' (0.44, +0.08). The 'Dolphins v. Eagles' game on NBC (5.86) was over a full point higher than the week-ago 'Giants v. Bills' (4.57). 'The Chosen' (0.03, -0.01) ticked down on the CW and was followed by encores of 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.03/0.03).

Finals Update: 'NFL Overrun' (+1.9), '60 Minutes' (+0.1), 'Yellowstone' (+0.1), and 'NFL: Dolphins v. Eagles' (+1.3) adjusted up. The repeat of 'LEGO Masters' (-0.1) and 'Football Night in America' (-0.6) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 10/15/23: Rangers/Astros MLB ALCS Game Strong, Big Brother Hits New Low, Encanto Decent on ABC (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: The "Animation Domination" block took the night off as Fox used 'NFL Overrun' (6.74) and 'The OT' (3.88) to boost the 'Rangers v. Astros' MLB game (1.69) to a strong rating. On CBS, 'Big Brother' (0.36, -0.08) crumbled in the 10 p.m. time slot but still outpaced 'Yellowstone' (0.26/0.25). '60 Minutes' (0.52, -0.59) lost more than half of last week's NFL-assisted rating. ABC's broadcast of 2021 film 'Encanto' (0.30) was a good bit higher than the week-ago 'Cruella' (0.22). The 7 p.m. 'AFV' original (0.35, +0.04) also grew, but the 10:30 p.m. 'AFV' rerun (0.11) did not impress. NBC had a solid 'Giants v. Bills' NFL game (4.57), but it was significantly lower than last week's 'Cowboys v. 49ers' (6.63). 'The Chosen' posted another 0.04 on the CW and was surrounded by repeats of 'Sullivan's Crossing' (0.02) and 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.03/0.03).

Finals Update: 'NFL: Giants v. Bills' (+0.8), 'NFL Overrun' (+1.9), 'The OT' (+0.1), 'MLB: Rangers v. Astros' (+0.3), and 'Big Brother' (+0.1) adjusted up. 'Football in America' (-0.6) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 10/8/23: Family Guy Nears Series Low, Sunday Night Football and Krapopolis Also Slip, Big Brother Rises from Last Sunday (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Fox did not have any direct NFL help for the night, so 'The Simpsons' (0.39, -0.69) and 'Krapopolis' (0.27, -0.24) were way down from their week-ago episodes. For what its worth, 'Krapopolis' did about as well as 'The Great North' probably would have done in this slot, give or take a few hundredths. 'Bob's Burgers' (0.30, -0.09) and 'Family Guy' (0.26, -0.05) had much smaller declines since they hardly get much NFL help to begin with, but 'Family Guy' was, alarmingly, only a hundredth higher than its series low. On CBS, the 'NFL Overrun' (5.59) pushed '60 Minutes' (1.11, +0.65) above the 1.0 mark in the 18-49 demographic. 'Yellowstone' (0.40, +0.14) and 'Big Brother' (0.44, +0.06) also built on their week-ago installments. 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (0.31, -0.04) dipped from its premiere and led into a showing of 2021 film 'Cruella' (0.22). Though it did have less lead-in support, 'Cruella' was a good bit below last week's 'Jungle Cruise' (0.28). The 'Cowboys v. 49ers' NFL game (6.63) was slightly lower than last week's game (6.67) on NBC. The CW had a stable edition of 'The Chosen' (0.04, 0.00) and encores of 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.02/0.02).

Finals Update: 'NFL Overrun' (+1.1), 'Family Guy' (+0.1), and 'NFL: Cowboys v. 49ers' (+1.7) adjusted up. The repeat of 'The Simpsons' (-0.5) and 'Football Night in America' (-1.0) adjusted down.

Sunday TV Ratings 10/1/23: The Simpsons Returns Down from Last Season’s Premiere, Big Brother and Krapopolis Tumble To Lows (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: It was season premiere night for Fox's animation block, but the numbers were well below what they were last year. 'The Simpsons' (1.08) dropped by 23% from its year-ago premiere (1.41) but also had less help from 'The OT' (2.51) when compared to fall 2022's launch (3.46).
