Saturday TV Ratings 4/27/24: NBA Playoffs Dominate, UFL Weak (Updated w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's NBA Playoffs broadcast posted a strong 1.72 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic and was easily the highest-rated offering on Saturday night. CBS's 48 Hours (0.24, +0.06) recovered after sinking last week and trumped Fox's UFL showing (0.13). NBC re-ran The Wall (0.18), Weakest Link (0.15), and SNL Vintage (0.19). The CW re-aired I Am Burt Reynolds (0.06).

Saturday TV Ratings 3/30/24: The Ten Commandments Rises from 2023, Saturday Night Live Drops, MLB Leads Primetime (Final Ratings w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's annual broadcast of The Ten Commandments (0.34) was the third-highest rated program of the evening and was up by 25% when compared to 2023's showing (0.27). Though the alphabet network put up a good fight, it was Fox's MLB: Regional Coverage (0.56) that topped prime time in the Adults 18-49 demographic. NBC's Saturday Night Live (0.61, -0.10) lost a tenth for its Ramy Youssef-hosted episode but still outrated all prime time offerings. CBS's 48 Hours (0.22, 0.00) matched its last original. The CW aired I Am Chris Farley (0.05). 

Saturday TV Ratings 3/23/24: World Figure Skating Championships Rise Again from Previous Year, March Madness Hits 2024 High (Final Ratings w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: March Madness basketball (1.67) reached a new 2024 high on CBS and once more demolished the competition in the Adults 18-49 demographic. ABC's Panthers v. Rangers NHL game (0.16) was modest at best but remained a notch above NBC's Figure Skating broadcast (0.12). For what it's worth, however, this showing of the World Figure Skating Championships was at least a bit higher than the year-ago one (0.10). SNL Vintage (0.16) built on Figure Skating in the 10 p.m. hour and easily bested Fox's reruns of MasterChef Junior (0.10) and The Masked Singer (0.11). The CW was close behind Fox with a repeat of Freddie Mercury: The Final Act (0.08).

Saturday TV Ratings 3/16/24: NBA Easily Tops College Basketball to Lead Night, NAACP Image Awards Very Low (Final Ratings w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: Fox's College Basketball: Big East Tournament broadcast (0.36) was strong by Saturday standards, but it was no match for ABC's night-topping Warriors v. Lakers NBA game (0.66). On CBS, the NAACP Image Awards (0.12) completely underwhelmed and lost to a 10 p.m. rerun of 48 Hours (0.16). NBC had its usual reruns (0.21/0.22) and SNL (not-so) Vintage (0.26). The CW aired The Go-Go's (0.04), a movie based on the late '70s rock band.

Saturday TV Ratings 3/9/24: Saturday Night Live Rises, Celtics/Suns NBA Game Leads Primetime (Final Ratings w/Analysis)

Ratings Analysis: With the help of Josh Brolin and Ariana Grande, Saturday Night Live (0.71, +0.07) bounced back on NBC and was able to beat out all primetime programming in the key demo. ABC had a solid Celtics v. Suns NBA game (0.57), but it was two-tenths below last week's Nuggets v. Lakers game (0.79). Fox's college basketball broadcast (0.16) underwhelmed, but the CW's (0.04) was a hundredth higher than last week. 48 Hours (0.22, -0.01) inched down on CBS but doubled the rerun of CSI: Vegas (0.11) that led into it.
