This week on the Summer Renew/Cancel, I take another look at one of the summer's surprising success stories as the end of summer draws near. Plus, a final guess for a game show that recently wrapped up its latest season.

Thursday TV Ratings 8/13/26: 2026 Patriot Games Abysmal on ABC, Celebrity Family Feud Loses to The 1% Club Repeat, Big Brother Tops NFL Preseason to Lead the Night [+ Analysis]

The Patriot Games (0.11) proved to be ratings poison for ABC, losing half of a wounded Celebrity Family Feud (0.22, -0.08) and sending Press Your Luck (0.17, -0.13) to a devastating new low, despite the latter's best efforts to bring viewers back to the network. CBS's Big Brother (0.75, +0.09) soared, while NBC had a quiet night of repeats (0.18/0.17/0.15). On Fox, a rerun of The 1% Club (0.24) went above Feud in the key demographic. Thursday TV Ratings 8/6/26: NFL Preseason Entirely Steady with 2025 Kickoff, Press Your Luck Steady as Celebrity Family Feud Slides, Big Brother Slightly Down [+ Analysis]

NFL on NBC (1.4) was the dominant force on Thursday night, but CBS's Big Brother (0.66, -0.01) was hardly affected by the additional competition. On ABC, Celebrity Family Feud (0.30, -0.10) lost a full tenth, but Press Your Luck (0.30, 0.00) held steady and matched its lead-in. Fox aired repeats of The 1% Club (0.14) and Best Medicine (0.13). ABC's Press Your Luck (0.30, +0.01) was up slightly on Thursday night, even as its Celebrity Family Feud lead-in (0.40, -0.03) cooled down. On NBC, Surviving Earth (0.25, +0.02) rose for its finale, while CBS's Big Brother (0.67, -0.08) was down markedly from last week. Thursday TV Ratings 7/16/26: Celebrity Family Feud and Press Your Luck Dip, Big Brother Leads the Night, Fox News Tops Trump Address Coverage [+ Analysis]

ABC game shows Celebrity Family Feud (0.29, -0.02) and Press Your Luck (0.22, -0.03) dropped slightly from their week-ago premieres, while CBS's Big Brother (0.69, -0.17) had a more pronounced decline from last week. Surviving Earth (0.22, -0.03) was also down on NBC. On Fox, repeats of The 1% Club (0.16) and Best Medicine (0.13) sandwiched presidential address coverage (0.34). The CW's repeat of Scrabble (0.08) more than doubled the Trivial Pursuit rerun (0.03) that led into it. Key: (R) = repeat.

Thursday TV Ratings 7/9/26: Big Brother Heavily Up from Season 27 Premiere, Celebrity Family Feud and Press Your Luck Return Lower, Project Runway and Real Housewives of Orange County Also Return Higher [+ Analysis]

CBS's Big Brother (0.86) returned in impeccable shape on Thursday night, up about 41% in the Adults 18-49 demographic from last year's start (0.61). But the results were not nearly as encouraging on ABC as Celebrity Family Feud (0.31) dropped by 26% from its year-ago premiere (0.42), and Press Your Luck (0.25, -17%) also dealt with a sizable decline. On NBC, Surviving Earth (0.25, +0.02) was up from last week. Fox aired repeats of The 1% Club (0.30) and Best Medicine (0.17), while the CW went with reruns of Trivial Pursuit (0.06/0.05). Key: (P) = premiere. (R) = repeat.

Thursday TV Ratings 12/4/25: Next Level Baker Bombs, The Grinch Leads the Night, Matlock Rises, The Great Christmas Light Fight Returns Slightly Lower [+ Analysis]

Fox's Next Level Baker (0.11) made no noise on series premiere night, declining sharply from an already sinking Hell's Kitchen (0.17, -0.06). On NBC, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (0.35) and Frosty the Snowman (0.34) posted strong ratings, with Grinch topping the night in the key demo. On CBS, Georgie & Mandy (0.34, -0.08) and Ghosts (0.33, -0.03) slipped, while Matlock (0.27, +0.01) inched up. Elsbeth (0.20, 0.00) was steady. CBS's Big Brother (0.69, +0.12) was up by more than a full tenth from last Thursday, and ABC's Celebrity Family Feud (0.35, +0.08) also made a noticeable recovery. At ten, a special about the late actor Robert Redford (0.14) topped its hour despite poor retention. NBC aired encores of Law & Order (0.13/0.13) and Law & Order: SVU (0.11). On CBS, Big Brother (0.57, +0.02) continued to top the night. Repeats of The Hunting Party (0.12), Law & Order: SVU (0.14), and Law & Order (0.12) aired on NBC. Bob's Burgers (0.17, -0.01) ticked down for its Fox finale, while The Great North (0.14, +0.04) was up for its first original in nearly a month.
