A Million Little Things to End with Season 5

Fans of A Million Little Things will have a million less reasons to tune in to ABC starting next season, as the series' upcoming fifth season will be its last. The decision to run for five seasons has long been in place, with creator DJ Nash having a five-season ppl-an from the start of its run. Rumors buzzed over the summer about the show ending, but nothing was official until now. The series has long been a middling player in same-day ratings, but cultivated an impressive following on streaming that will allow it to get a farewell season. David Giuntoli, James Roday Rodriguez, Romany Malco, Grace Park, Christina Moses and Allison Miller make up the principle cast on the friendship drama.

Wednesday TV Ratings 5/18/22: The Masked Singer and The Conners End Up, Home Economics Rises for Finale, So You Think You Can Dance Returns Low

Ratings Analysis: ABC had almost nothing but positive news on finale night as 'The Wonder Years' (0.33, +0.04), 'The Conners' (0.42, +0.01), 'Home Economics' (0.29, +0.05), and 'A Million Little Things' (0.24, +0.05) all rose for their season closers. Longtime sitcom 'The Goldbergs' (0.39, -0.03) was the only show not to rise on the alphabet network, with the comedy sinking to a new series low for the final episode of its ninth season. 'Survivor' (0.92, +0.14) had the largest week-to-week gain of the evening on CBS and led into the 'Beyond the Edge' finale (0.32, +0.01). 'Edge' picked up a single hundredth and was followed by a rerun of 'FBI' (0.21) that went a tenth below it. Fox's 'The Masked Singer' (0.71, +0.05) gained five-hundredths for its finale, but the season premiere of 'So You Think You Can Dance' (0.34) retained less than half of that rating. 'Dance' was a tenth lower than the last time it aired back in 2019 (0.4). On NBC, 'Chicago Med' (0.63, -0.01) lost a hundredth, 'Chicago Fire' (0.69, +0.01) gained one, and 'Chicago PD' (0.65, -0.02) shed two-hundredths. 'The Flash' (0.12, +0.01) and 'Kung Fu' (0.08, +0.01) each got a hundredth back on The CW.

Finals Update: 'Survivor' (+0.1) adjusted up.

A Million Little Things Renewed by ABC

A Million Little Things won't make it to a million seasons, but it will at least make it to five, as ABC has renewed the series today. The show premiered in 2018 to respectable ratings, seeing a ratings bump after being moved behind Grey's Anatomy in the second half of the season. It's declined since then, particularly since being moved back to Wednesdays last season. With a 38% drop from last season, it became the lowest-rated series on ABC this year with just a 0.26 average in the 18-49 demographic. However, the show remains a valuable asset for ABC on streaming, with a reportedly strong performance on Hulu, which ABC's parent company Disney owns a majority share of. A Million Little Things stars David Giuntoli, Grace Park, James Roday Rodriguez, Romany Malco, Christina Moses and Allison Miller. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.

Wednesday TV Ratings 5/11/22: Home Economics and Chicago Med Hit Lows, Survivor Also Drops, Domino Masters Ends on a New Low (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC had a particularly rough evening as 'The Goldbergs' (0.42, -0.02), 'The Wonder Years' (0.29, -0.02), 'Home Economics' (0.24, -0.04), and 'A Million Little Things' (0.19, -0.06) all dropped to their lowest ratings to date. 'The Conners' (0.41, +0.01) was the only one to buck the trend and actually picked up a hundredth at 9. NBC dramas 'Chicago Med' (0.64, -0.01) and 'Chicago PD' (0.67, -0.01) shed a hundredth each, but 'Chicago Fire' (0.68, -0.09) had a more sizable decline in the middle. 'Survivor' (0.78, -0.13) and 'Beyond the Edge' (0.31, -0.08) crashed on CBS and were followed by an encore of 'FBI' (0.18). Airing behind a 'Masked Singer' clip show (0.47), Fox program 'Domino Masters' (0.23, -0.08) left a rotten impression on finale night by crumbling to a new series low. The CW's 'The Flash' (0.11, -0.01) declined by a hundredth and led into a stable 'Kung Fu' (0.07)

Finals Update: 'Survivor' (+0.1), 'The Masked Singer Clip Show' (+0.1), and 'Chicago PD' (+0.1) adjusted up. 'Domino Masters' (-0.1) adjusted down.

Wednesday TV Ratings 5/4/22: Good Sam Rises for Finale, The Goldbergs and The Conners Sink to New Lows, Survivor Scores 2022 High (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Half of ABC's sitcom lineup was in original mode and the results were not pretty, with both 'The Goldbergs' (0.44, -0.05) and 'The Conners' (0.40, -0.03) crashing to their lowest ratings to date. Reruns of 'The Wonder Years' (0.26) and 'Home Economics' (0.27) occupied the 8:30 and 9:30 slots while 'A Million Little Things' (0.25, -0.01) shed a hundredth at 10. CBS was up all-around with 'Survivor' (0.91, +0.06), a stronger than usual 'Beyond the Edge' (0.39, +0.12), and the season finale of 'Good Sam' (0.27, +0.06). Fox's 'The Masked Singer' (0.66, -0.01) inched down as 'Domino Masters' (0.31) held steady. 'The Flash' (0.12) was also steady on the CW, but 'Kung Fu' (0.07, -0.02) dropped by two-hundredths. NBC had repeats of 'Chicago Med' (0.35), 'Chicago Fire' (0.38), and 'Chicago PD' (0.38).

Finals Update: 'Survivor' (+0.1), 'The Masked Singer' (+0.1), and the repeat of 'Chicago PD' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Wednesday TV Ratings 4/27/22: Survivor Slightly Down but Remains Dominant, The Masked Singer Rises, A Million Little Things Stable (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: CBS's 'Survivor' (0.85, -0.01) and 'Beyond the Edge' (0.27, -0.01) were both a hundredth shy of last week, but 'Good Sam' (0.21, +0.01) managed to rise by that same amount. On Fox, 'The Masked Singer' (0.67, +0.04) grew by four-hundredths as 'Domino Masters' (0.31, -0.02) tied its series low. 'The Flash' (0.12, -0.03) shed three-hundredths on the CW while 'Kung Fu' (0.09, +0.02) gained two-hundredths. ABC had a stable 'A Million Little Things' (0.26) alongside reruns of 'The Goldbergs' (0.33), 'The Wonder Years' (0.22), 'Abbott Elementary' (0.24), and 'Home Economics' (0.18). NBC's repeats of 'Chicago Med' (0.39), 'Chicago Fire' (0.43), and 'Chicago PD' (0.43) were significantly stronger than the alphabet network's offerings.

Finals Update: 'The Masked Singer' (+0.1) and 'A Million Little Things' (+0.1) adjusted up.

Wednesday TV Ratings 4/20/22: The Masked Singer Sets New Series Low, Chicago Med and Chicago Fire Dip, Rising Survivor Leads (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: A controversial appearance from former mayor Rudy Giuliani did nothing to help boost Fox's 'The Masked Singer' (0.63, -0.03). The reality series set a new series low and remained in third place in the 8PM hour. 'Domino Masters' (0.33, +0.02) picked up two-hundredths at 9. On CBS, 'Survivor' (0.86, +0.07) gained seven-hundredths, 'Beyond the Edge' (0.28, -0.02) dropped by two, and 'Good Sam' (0.20) held steady. ABC's 'The Goldbergs' (0.49, +0.03) rose by three-hundredths while 'The Wonder Years' (0.31, -0.03) and 'A Million Little Things' (0.26, -0.03) declined by the same amount. 'Home Economics' (0.28, +0.02) inched up behind a rerun of 'The Conners' (0.26). 'Chicago Med' (0.65, -0.04), 'Chicago Fire' (0.77, -0.05), and 'Chicago PD' (0.68, -0.04) all dipped on NBC. The CW's Freddie Mercury special (0.11) was a modest performer by the network's standards.

Finals Update: 'Survivor' (+0.1), 'Chicago Fire' (+0.1), and the repeat of 'The Conners' (+0.1) adjusted up.
