FADE  IN:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  NIGHT  -  MOVIE  THEATER  ROOM

We start off the episode with a shot of a massive room. Hundreds of passengers sit on the floor with blankets and pillows while facing a giant movie screen.

A MOVIE plays on the screen. Things seem at peace, until the SOUND on the movie cuts OFF. But only for a second and it returns. The audience does not react.

Then, the lights in the room all FLICKER. The audience GASPS.

Then it’s back to normal. A moment of merriness and peace returns to the room.

Until the lights yet again flicker ON and OFF. ON and OFF. The audience sits UP with a sharp movement, concerned. The lights continue to flicker.

CLOSE  UP  ON  THE  MOVIE  SCREEN,  we  see  three  SYMBOLS.  One  of  a SUN, another of an EXPLOSION, and finally THREE LINES. The message disappears.

The lights come back on...but only for a moment. Before the entire room goes BLACK. RED security lights remain on before a BELL begins to ring. Panic among the residents ensues as we

INT.  STARSHIP  -  CAPTAIN’S  ROOM  -  MORNING

The next morning. Eli enters the room looking tired and exhausted. Annica stands by the window looking out into the black galaxy.

ANNICA
So, everything up and running again?

ELI
Yep. Only took all night.

ANNICA
Any idea what’s been causing these issues? That was the fourth time this weekend.

Eli slumps down in the captain’s chair.

ELI
Yeah. I know that.

ANNICA
Did Meridian do anything to keep it from happening again?

ELI
No. What do you expect him to do? We’ve been living on a multi- billion dollar ship for over a century and all of the sudden we can’t keep the power on? That’s not something the handyman can fix.

ANNICA
So what are you saying is the problem?

ELI
Honestly, I don’t know. And that’s what scares me.

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  OCEAN  ELARA’S  ROOM  -  MORNING

Winter and her mother, Ocean (60s), sit in Ocean’s room. Ocean’s room is covered with various article clippings, photos of residents on the ship...a real police central.

Ocean, however, appears unwell. She looks sickly, confused.

Ocean is sitting in bed while Winter sits beside her holding her hand.

WINTER
So, what book do you wanna read today?

Ocean does not respond.

WINTER (CONT'D)
Ok. What movie do you want to watch?

Still no response.

WINTER (CONT'D)
So, you’re just going to ignore me all day? Because if that’s the case, then I can leave.

WINTER  (CONT'D)
It’s not like Wyatt or Eli visit you as much as I do.

OCEAN
Hush.

WINTER
She speaks.

OCEAN
Where are my diamonds?

WINTER
That’s what this is about, isn’t
it? You lost your precious diamonds so you’re giving me the cold shoulder.

OCEAN
I didn’t lose them.

WINTER
And I didn’t take them. If they’re so important to you, why don’t you just go buy more? The ship’s jeweler knows you by name.
OCEAN
I’m not worried about that. I’m worried about why they were taken.

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  BREAKFAST  BAR  -  MORNING

Wyatt and Miranda sit together at a table in the ship’s breakfast bar, food on their plates.

WYATT
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for spontaneous breakfast dates, but do you wanna tell me why you called me here at the crack of dawn?
MIRANDA
There’s no ulterior motive. I just wanted to see you. Catch up. You’ve been so busy lately. With your mysterious late night meetings and all the work Eli’s been giving you.

WYATT
Uh, ok...so what’s been new with you?

MIRANDA
Nothing exciting. I wanna hear more about you.

WYATT
Like?

MIRANDA
I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me how work’s going?

WYATT
I don’t feel like talking about work.

MIRANDA
Why? Is it that stressful lately?

WYATT
Yeah, let’s go with that.

MIRANDA
Eli’s really putting you through the ringer, huh?

WYATT
No, not Eli.

MIRANDA
Then who?

WYATT
Eh, nobody you know.

MIRANDA
Has it been hard?

WYATT
Has what been hard?

MIRANDA
Running the ship, keeping up morale, all that jazz.

WYATT
About the same as usual.

MIRANDA
Even after that boy was killed? What was his name---Maxx?

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  WORKOUT  ROOM  -  MORNING

We see a gym full of workout equipment and machine. However, nobody is using the machines. Instead, there is an angry group of people standing in a huddle, listening to Annica speak.

ANNICA
Now for anyone who was hurt while using the machines, please visit the ship infirmary as soon as possible. After you do that, please contact myself or Wyatt Elara and we will be happy to make things right. It is never our goal to see our passengers be injured in any way.
With a groan, the group of angry passengers disbands and heads out the room as Eli walks in.

ELI
It happened again, didn’t it?

ANNICA
Yep. And this time, some people got hurt. They were using the machines and they started acting up. The Gravity Walk sped up to an insane speed, which flung off a few poor souls. The Weight Lifts dropped from midair and almost really hurt some people.
ELI
This is bull. The ship is malfunctioning, for no apparent reason, and there’s nothing we can do about it.
ANNICA
Have you gone down and inspected the Cyber Deck? Maybe something is messing with the power volts up there.

ELI
Yeah, that was my thought too. But there was nothing fishy when I looked.

ANNICA
So what’s up then?

ELI
Well, we are literally traveling into a mysterious, dark, open space.

ANNICA
And you think we hit something?

ELI
No. But I do think we could be travelling through some sort of Cosmic mess. Maybe it’s interfering with the ship’s controls.
ANNICA
Any idea when we’ll be out of whatever we’re in?

ELI
Hopefully soon.

Eli turns to leave.

ELI (CONT'D)
Do you mind cleaning things up here?

ANNICA
Yeah, sure.

ELI
Great, thanks. Oh, and Annica?

ANNICA
Yeah?

ELI
After you’ve done your rounds today, please see me in the Star Room.

ANNICA
For what?

ELI
Just a little chat.

ANNICA
Will do.

CUT TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  OCEAN  ELARA’S  ROOM  -  MORNING

WINTER
What do you mean, why someone took them?

OCEAN
Those diamonds have been in our family for decades. They’re worth more money than you could imagine.

WINTER
OK, and?

OCEAN
Don’t you think it’s a little strange they’ve disappeared? Especially right when the ship started having so many problems.
WINTER
The Elders made sure we had enough money for anything we’d encounter while we’re traveling to the new colony. They don’t need your diamonds.
OCEAN
But what if they’re preparing for something they are not supposed to be?

WINTER
Like what?

OCEAN
I don’t know, dear. But I don’t believe my diamonds were just misplaced or stolen to buy clothes.

WINTER
You can’t know that.

OCEAN
No. But when you’ve been on this ship as long as I have, you begin to realize things are never what they seem to be.

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  BREAKFAST  BAR  -  LATER

WYATT
Why do you care about that kid?

MIRANDA
I don’t. I just think it’s interesting. In the entire history of Starship, there’s never been a murder.
WYATT
There’s a first for everything.

MIRANDA
Yeah, but shouldn’t people be more alarmed about it? It seems like it just happened and then everyone went back to their business. Nobody even cared.
WYATT
Maybe that’s a good thing.

MIRANDA
Oh?

WYATT
Yeah. Obviously, there’s a reason someone killed him. And there’s a lot about that kid you don’t know.

MIRANDA
So you’re saying he deserved to die?

WYATT
No, I’m not saying that. What I’m saying is stay out of things like this. Trust me.

MIRANDA
I’m just curious...

WYATT
Yeah, and you’re also not really here to “catch up” with me. I’m not gonna be a source on whatever story you’re writing for the Night, or
the news here.

Wyatt has realized Miranda really did have an ulterior motive in their meeting here. Not wanting to be used any more, he angrily gets up and storms off, as we...

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  STAR  ROOM  -  EVENING

Eli sits in the Star Room, waiting for his meeting with Annica. Picture a huge room with a glass ceiling - but this, in space, makes for a beautiful picture.

Annica quietly enters and sits down next to Eli.

ELI
You made it.

ANNICA
I did. So are you gonna tell me what you wanted to see me for?

ELI
Well, I did want to see you outside the Navigation Room.

ANNICA
But?

ELI
There’s something important I wanted to talk to you about.

ANNICA
Why here?

ELI
No interruptions.

ANNICA
Shoot.

ELI
While I don't know for sure, I have been hearing whispers from the Elders.

ANNICA
About?

ELI
I think we’re going to be reaching our destination soon.

ANNICA
Really? That’s awesome!

ELI
Yeah, yeah.

ANNICA
You don’t sound so excited.

ELI
I am. It’s just that, if we’re really going to be there soon, we have a lot to do.

ANNICA
Okay...

ELI
And that includes giving the Elders a name.

Annica sighs. She knew this conversation would come.

ANNICA
Listen, I don’t want to ruin our friendship over this.

ELI
And neither do I.

ANNICA
Why don’t you just decide. You’ve done a great job protecting the ship, the passengers, me.

ELI
What if I gave them both of our names? You’ve been by my side without a doubt for years. You deserve to lead and control things just as much as I do.

ANNICA
I don’t know. I don’t even think I’m cut out for such a high stress position.

I mean, it’s going to be so much different than just dealing with snotty passengers all day and making a few orders.
ELI
That’s true. Which is why I want you by my side when the day comes. I’ll need you.

ANNICA
You’ve been doing such a good job, though.

ELI
Yes, but...

ANNICA
What is it?

ELI
Things are going to be really, really different.

Annica puts a reassuring hand on Eli’s back. They stop for a moment and look at each other.

ANNICA
Oh, come on. I know you can handle it. Maybe I can’t, but you can.

ELI
It’s just that...when we get there, things won’t be very peaceful. At all.

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  ELI’S  QUARTERS  -  NIGHT  -  LATER

Eli climbs into bed after a long day. The galaxy lights up his room. He pulls out his phone and dials a number.

ELI
Yeah, this is Eli Elara.
(a beat)
I’m from Circuit S7B.
(a beat)
Yeah, please connect me to Circuit
10D.
(a beat)
Hey. Things are going as planned.

There’s been some issues with the ship, but I think it’s strong enough to handle them when it all starts.
(a beat)
No, nobody’s going to stop it. They don’t know the truth.
(a beat)
I don’t care what the Rogue Circuits say. If we band together, we’re be unstoppable.

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  SECURITY  ROOM  HALLWAY  -  NIGHT

A mysterious black figure walks out of an elevator and down the hallway of the Security Room. A face is not visible.

The figure stops when they get to the door of the Security Room.  A  sign  on  the  door  reads  “RESTRICTED  ACCESS.  TOP PERSONNEL  ONLY.”

The figure pulls out a key card and scans it over the door. The door opens. The figure enters.

CUT  TO:

INT.  STARSHIP  -  SECURITY  ROOM  -  NIGHT  -  CONTINUOUS

The figure enters the room. Many computers, security cameras, and other pieces of technology are situated throughout the room.

The figure approaches the main computer and begins typing.

CLOSE  ON  THE  COMPUTER  we  see  the  following:  A  folder  marked “SECURITY FOOTAGE”. The folder is opened. Upon being opened, thousands of video files of the ship’s security footage open.

The figure frantically types a code into the computer.

CLOSE  ON  THE  COMPUTER  we  see:  a  message  pops  up  that  reads “DELETE ALL FOOTAGE?”. The figure types in “YES” as all of the files begin disappearing from the folder. Gone forever.

Goal accomplished, the figure quickly dashes out the room, as we...
